beerbrat99 (119), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 9, 2008 Draft. Pours an appealing dark red.garnet color. The head is light tank with average head retention and lacing. Aroma of biscuity malt and grapefruit. Taste is the same with medium body and nice roundness of malt and hops in the finish. A nice brew and one of the best organic brews I’ve tasted. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 Decent brew here. Aroma is mostly malty. Flavor is a nice balance of malt, some alcohol, and a touch of hops. Fullbodied and smooth bitterness. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 17, 2007 On tap at the BP. Clear red amber with a full persistant off whiye head. Very nice sheeting lacing. Lightly hoppy aroma and a earthy woody flavor. Papery and woody like the amber. Similar malt bill possibly. Moderate palate and carbonation. Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 21, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Fruity, sugary aroma, very lightly bready/doughy, with slight apple, cherry and citrus notes, some light toast and brown sugar. Clear garnet color, head and lacing are fine and slight. Flavor profile is really well-balanced, again fruity and lightly sweet, but drying out a bit before the end, and with ample bitterness and citrus flavor from the Cascades, some punch/cider notes, also lightly woody, and with a light-medium amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is prickly and relatively low in effervescence, body is medium. For an organic red, this is pretty good! 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Oct 19, 2007 Bottle: Amber colored, moderate foamy off-white head, spotty lacing. Grainy nose, quite earthy, some soil, low hop presense. Semi-sweet grainy/earthy malts on the tongue. Yeah, quite grainy and husky. Woah! Not sure if because its Organic, or if its a specific malt, but this thing is very grainy, husky, and earthy. Fades fairly quickly towards the finish, but still smacks you in the face as you start this one off. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Perhaps a little overcooked vegetable like tinge in this one. Not thick enough for an Amber, in my opinion. Hard for me to get over the graininess. Way too many good Amber Ales out there to bother with this one again.
csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 6, 2007 12oz botle. Aroma is floral and mildly earthy hops, with a touch of citrus and caramelly malt. Color is bronze with a small white head,Caramelly with bread crust and an earthy, floral, light citrus flavors. Moderate to full bitterness to style. (60 IBU’s per website).Overall a decent amber, but there seems to be a flavor (think tomatoes) in the beer that I am not too keen on. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Sep 10, 2007 Draft. Reddish amber beer with an off-white head. Low citrus aroma. Nice citrus (grapefruit/orange) flavor with malt and slight earth. Medium body. Good bitterness. Lingering light grapefruit. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Aug 11, 2007 Draft - Poured a ruby red in color with a nice white head. Aroma is medium of lightly roasted malts and, more mildly, of spicy hops. Flavor is malty to begin, but ends up with spicy hops and a fairly long medium bitter finish. Very good and well worth finding again sometime.
