3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
had from tap and poured into a pint glass. Pours a nice amber color with a good foamy head.
Nice malt based aromas with some hop notes and grains. Not all that deep and singular, but it does do it well.
Good medium body, but lacking some depth. The feel is nice and smooth with notes of malts and some hops.
A pretty solid beer. It wasn’t the greatest in the world, but a very drinkable beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at a tasting. Clear reddish in color with a small off-white head. Resinous hop aroma with big burnt caramel aroma with some earthy notes. Roasty caramel flavors with average resinous hops, well balanced. Medium body with medium-soft carbonation. Nice and drinkable. This beer is certainly near the top of its style. Would revisit if I weren’t a ticker.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great clarity, colour intensity and head retention on this one, as well as concentric rings of lacing. The aroma is fresh, floral hops, butterscotch, doughy malts, and straightforward light maltiness. An earthier hop presence shines in the flavour along with nutty malt impressions (Munich malt, perhaps), a whisper of cocoa and a hint of old coffee. Straightforward beer style done right. Full-bodied for the style with gentle yet, tingly carbonation and a medium/long palate duration. This is proof that an organic ale can stand up to the rest of ’em. As this is a year-round beer, I must imagine that being organic, the spec on the malts will have slightly more variation in their specs, which might in turn mean the recipe must be tweaked with each brew to compensate, making it a bitch to brew (or not). I give Laurelwood tons of credit for helping lift doubts about beers produced from organic malts. I doubt the hops are organic, but if they are, even more kudos. Goes great with simple pub food and a go to session beer for me when living the dream of the 90’s in Portlandia. This was my favorite amber and still may be. Rate to style, haters!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours orange copper with a thick beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a good bitter hop finish. Taste a bit like an IPA.
