Organic Portland Roast Espresso Stout is a collaboration between the Laurelwood brewery and Portland Roasting. The beer features a blend of Ethiopian and Sumatran coffees specially selected by the Head Brewer at Laurelwood. The Organic and farm friendly coffees blend nicely with their smooth and mellow organic stout. The roasted character of the ale is nicely complimented by the coffee flavor and aroma.

pours a jet black with a small tan head that dissipates, and some lacing. smell is of cocoa, espresso, and a touch of licorice. taste is thick, dark chocolate, and espresso bean, ends a little oily and bitter.

Holy shit this aroma is outstanding. Aroma is sweet milky espresso, no astringency. Lots of milk, espresso and roastiness. Damn, I am impressed by this aroma. Usually I get a lot of ashy aromatics with astringency tossed in. Taste is milky, slightly astringent, a bit thin, bitter/roasty, smooth, and milky. Finish is slightly dry, a bit ashy, and bitter. Damn!

Light chocolate notes notes of the nose with strong hints of well-roasted beans. Rich chocolate malt with a moderate helping roasted earthy beans. A little grass on the finish with some lightly charred wood smoke. Leafy hop presence on the finish with some muted pine notes. Really nice chocolate and espresso bean character. Some vanilla notes and root really round out this silky smooth drink.

Organic beers are stupid. This beer is overrated. Not a very coherent marriage of flavors. Thin mouthfeel. I was expecting I thought it was a mediocre stout. 5/7

This literally tastes like the last beer I rated, which is why Iím doing them back to back. Nice light undertones of coffee in a fairly mild and yet tastefilled stout. Let it warm up and let the tastebuds riiiiide. Yum!

Pretty pour! Glossy black with a rich, tan head. Deep roasted malts and coffee on the nose, with some bitter chocolate and some deep brown sugar. Slightly dilute flavor, with a slight hop presence showing through the sharp coffee. An imperial version would be fantastic - this one ends up being weaker than Iíd hoped. Tasty. Just not enough.

Bottle shared by Shawn at our little SBRBWG, danke.

Slick Black Cadillac appearance, shiny and new. We drive up to the local coffee shop where the vapours of freshly clean roasted espresso comes rushing forth. Must be cooking some treats too for I smell chocolate, vanilla beans, herbs, liquorice and berries. Go inside for our order and was served a solid espresso with a light chocolate sweetness and the side of bread provides notes of fig and raisin along with a dash of burnt biscuits. The body is thin but then it is a coffee stout so that is par for the course, Darn nice trip and my expections were actually exceeded. For once an Organic brew that did not suck.

Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom! Itís black with a red hue and a creamy, lightbrown head. The aroma has wonderful notes of coffee and chocolate! The flavour is slightly sweet with notes of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, light licorice and the finish is dry and slightly bitter. The flavour is very pure, but to be perfect for me, it should have had a a softer/smoother and fuller body.
