dmruth (19), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 23, 2008 1 Pint, 6 FL OZ. (2008) Solid black body with a light chocolate aroma. There is minimal head and rather high carbonation for a stout. The flavor is complex, a bit bitter, with a hint of alcohol. The beer is a bit weak on the tongue.
buzzoven (154), Japan Oct 11, 2008 Smooth pour reveals a creamy raisiny rummy head atop a dark body. Muted nose with slight chocolate notes popping out. All the usual flavour suspects are present and accounted for here: chocolate, malts, roasted barley; with an especially dry finish. As a Porter, it gets the job done; as a truly outstanding brew, she’s not there yet. Not one of the greats, but pretty damn good. darn1207 (335), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 26, 2008 tap. sampler from Laurelwood Public House in Portland. dark brown with tan head. woody chocolate and caramel aroma. good thinnish texture. ash and burnt chocolate in the taste then a nice bitter finish. good stuff. spikester (440), Salem, Oregon, USA Sep 17, 2008 A better than average West Coast Porter. Coffee, toffee, semi-sweet chocolate, a nice tang from the fruity, bitter hops. meisterbrauMHB (27), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 24, 2008 Bottle tasted with cmblado.Has a nice toffee-chocolate aroma and flavor. Some hop flavor but not overpowering as with some porters. Nice rounding out with a balanced finish. Worth having again. NoiZe (947), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 16, 2008 Tasted somewhere along my trip through the States.
