BDR (1966), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 3, 2008 Brown color with light head. Roasted malt with faint coffee aroma. A light body with a little more coffee and chocolate flavors than I’d expect form a porter. Nice.
anders37 (2834), Malmö, Sweden Dec 4, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty bittersweet chocolate finish. MatSciGuy (352), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 18, 2008 [Bottle] shared by skyview. Pours a clear dark brown with a moderate tan head. Very nice nose of bittersweet chocolate, sweet malt, and roasted malts. Flavor is bitter cocoa, a touch of whisky, and a touch chalky. BuckeyeBoy (1211), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 16, 2008 22oz Bottle Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. A nice aroma of malts and some sweetness. Tast more of the sweet roast. A very tasty brew. buzzoven (170), Japan Oct 11, 2008 Smooth pour reveals a creamy raisiny rummy head atop a dark body. Muted nose with slight chocolate notes popping out. All the usual flavour suspects are present and accounted for here: chocolate, malts, roasted barley; with an especially dry finish. As a Porter, it gets the job done; as a truly outstanding brew, she’s not there yet. Not one of the greats, but pretty damn good. darn1207 (344), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 26, 2008 tap. sampler from Laurelwood Public House in Portland. dark brown with tan head. woody chocolate and caramel aroma. good thinnish texture. ash and burnt chocolate in the taste then a nice bitter finish. good stuff.
