COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich Coffee and chocolate flavors dominate this opaque working class Ale. Stout’s extreme popularity among the British factory workers of the 1800’s may qualify it as the fuel for the Industrial Revolution. "By the time you get it, you’re too far out."

On tap in PDX near the "E" gates. One finger of tan head on a pitch black body. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Great balance and boldness. The taste is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt with the chocolate really shining through. Texture is silky with low carbonation and heavy body. Overall an excellent beer.

Draught at the Brewpub. Deep black with nice lace and legs. Roasty, smoky nose. Sweet, full flavor, coffee, black chocolate, milk. Nicely roasted, good balance. Slightly tangy. Very nice stuff.

Opaque black with thick tan foam. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Full body with bittersweet chocolate, nuts, and burnt toast finishing dry and rosary. Good job here.

On tap at the PDX restaurant bar. Dark brown with tan small head. Nose of sweetened coffee, little hint of cola. Taste was like bitter ice coffee with a tad of sugar. Medium bodied, nice feel and finish

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. In aroma, a smooth coffee chocolate with light woody notes. In mouth, loads of coffee with nice bitterness and alcohol warmth in finale. Very nice. On tap at PDX Concourse E location, July 31 2011.

Dark opaque brown color, steady beige head. Lots of roasted coffee and some dark chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toasted malty, coffeish and chocolaty. Nicely balanced and coffeish stout.

Nice roasty nose with hints of chocolate and charred notes as well. Pours black with a nice tan head. The flavor is roasty up front, nice light bitter sweet chocolate underneath, charred ashy dryness, lightly sweet. A little earthy and bitter to round it out. Nice solid enjoyable stout.

Draft at ncbc. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy burnt tan head. Tons of sheeting lace. Mild bready chocolate aromatics. This beer is evidently not intended to excite your nose holes. Beautiful, creamy, drenching thickish body, tons of residuals giving it real heft. Chocolate, roast, black bread, and a little bit of ash on the mid palate. Not super sweet, especially. Long roasty finish. Delectable.

Rich chocolate nose, light but full bodied character, super dark and a dark tan head. Rich baking chocolate body, intense with roast, mild in a sneer, just big without trying to prove anything.
