Commercial Description:
These Belgian-style beers were originally brewed by the Trappist monks of Westmalle Abbey. According to St. Benedict monks have a responsibility to for their own livelihood and brewing beer is one of the traditional crafts pursued to that end. It is also how we choose to sustain our living. Today, these high alcohol strength blond beers are noted for their unique flavor and aromas. Often called the Champagne of beers, we think you’ll enjoy this complex, distinctive beer. 8.9 % ABV, 14 IBUs, O.G. 21.3 º Plato.

On tap @ Public House. Pours a clear straw yellow with little head. Effervescent. Smell is a yeasty sweetness, but subdued. Not thick on the palate, considering 8.9%. Taste was very nice, with a lingering sweetness for a while after - the only flaw I could detect was that the quality of the sweetness was a little different than some other abbeys, I just can’t put my finger on it.
