COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the beer that started the brewery. Named after the ancient homeland of the Lavery’s. It is rich, dark and smoky. Not for the faint of heart but that’s how we intended it. It has taste of bacon, which is one of the most beautiful images I can image; a bacon beer. A solid earthy hop bitterness with a little astringency from the dark malts. This beer has no better pair than excellent Vermont Cheddar cheese.

Bottle from wegmans. Half in glass half in chili. Pours nicely black with a medium sized tan head with some retention. The aroma has a lot of dark chocolate, some coffee, lightly smoked. The taste has a nice medium smoke over the chocolate of the porter. Not too sweet which I like. The finish has residual smoke and almost some hickory. Well done.

Very good, not great. The smoke is there in the nose and in the taste, and this went very well with bbq. On its own I found it just a tad thin and unintegrated. Still, not bad at all.

Pours tar black with a soapy tan head. Heavy smoke aroma with hint of roasted malt. Smoke flavor with roasted malt, meat, and a slight bitter hop ending. Decent lacing. Good beer.

Pours deep brown with a thin tan head. Aroma smells like a magic marker. Flavor has a bit of nuttiness and some burnt/bitter notes...not noticing any smoke...some chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is chocolatey with a hint of that magic marker flavor.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/30/12

Aroma: The nose has smoked, roasted, and burnt malts, and some mild earthy hop notes
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown-black color with a small brown head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is roasty and smokey, with some light meaty notes, and a mild hop bitterness
Palate: Medium-full bodied, fairly thick, has a soft-to-average carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a more then solid Rauchbier. They may not have made me say "Holy Shit!" or anything, but they hit the style on the mark, and made a good beer. I would have like to see more bacon considering the description, but overall, nicely done.

Sample pour, dark healthy with light khaki. Nose is nice hickory, sweet smoke, smooth smoked malt. Flavor is rich, hickory smoke, sweet, good roasted malt from the porter aspect. Smooth smoke throughout.

Had a bottle and from the tap, almost 2 different beers from tap and bottle, I got more smoke and carbination from the bottle, also a nice roast in there. From the the tap, it was more roasty and not a huge amount of smoke, I liked it more from tap, but it was good both ways, enjoyable overall

Yep, on tap at the monaca bocktown. Nice black our. Thin creamy head. Very nice stoutish aroma. Not volatile like so many impy stouts. Goes down fairly well. Smooth yet does not let you forget it is a beer. Weird saddle or boot taste in the background. Could be a little more well behaved.

22oz bottle. This one poured all head...and I mean ALLLL head. Not a gusher, but a slow creeper. Black with a tan head. Aromas of smoke, chocolate, peat, some meats, and ash. Tastes of chocolate, smoked meats, earth, roast, and caramel.

On draft. Enjoyable roasty ale. Smoky flavor is not overpowering, but feels just about right. Bacon touch, with subtle chocolate notes. Aroma could use extra umph but overall pleasingly smoky meat smelling. This is a smoked beer I could drink a few of.
