12oz can pours dark black brown with 2 finger head. Nose is malty grain, smoky dark cocoa, light fruity pine. Taste is similar with some sticky bitter smoke chocolate, ashy, soil, tiny metallic note which eventually fades. Finish is a mix of light bready malt, subtle yeasty fruit and herbal piney bitter chocolate. It doesn’t all quite gel, but decent.

Draft at the brewery. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like strong booze, roasted grains, dry herbs, lemon. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like herbs, light spice, light booze.

Flight from the brewery. Pours opaque dark brown with tan head. Aroma of spice and coffee. Taste similar, stronger on the coffee.

Tap at brewery. Pours deep, dark brown with thin, beige head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, earthy notes, plums, fig, and faint floral notes. Flavor is roast malts forward, chocolate, some dark fruit sweetness, and medium bitterness; dry, roast finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

From the can, the beer exploded. I got it in the glass quick but it was all beige head. Waited til it calmed down and poured the rest. Very interesting. Light feel but still the stout traits like chocolate and coffee. For a true rating I will have to revisit it as I only have one. Right now, I'm digging it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Pours very dark brown with large head. Smoky smell. Has more of a porter taste than Belgian. Couldn't taste much sweetness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz can. Pours a murky dark brown with generous light brown head. Aroma is equal parts fruity and roasty. Roasty and chocolate malt notes are the star here, but plenty of spiciness and fruitiness round out the flavor. Medium to full bodied with roasty chocolaty flavor that lingers on the palate. Unique and enjoyable for me.

Aroma: Chocolate Malts, Grainy, Mild Coffee Appearance: Dark Brown Hue, Passes Mild Light, Brown Head, Great Lacing Taste: Chocolate Malts, Mild Coffee, Mild Wheat Palate: Great Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying If they had called this beer a Black Ale, I would have rated it higher but I got zero qualities of Saison out of this beer.

On tap. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, charred malt, coffee grounds, sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt with sweet roast/char in the background. Some spices in the finish. Sweet and spicy. The palate is a little sharp but otherwise ok. This is a blend of spices from the saison with roasted malt notes. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

On tap at Carson St Deli. Pours like a stout with near black body and khaki colors head. Aromas of mostly roasted malts, some chocolate, saison yeast, and some light yeast. Flavors of light fruit, saison yeast, roasted malts, light chocolate, bit of breadyness, but lacking tartness or lacking any really saison qualities. Basically an interesting and tasty stout.
