Cans pours a dark brown/black with a fluffy whitish head. Aromas of spices, roast malts, and dark fruits, and some licorice. Flavor followed the nose with a spicy bite to it. Medium body and felt thin with a lively carbonation. Finishes with a mild spicy bite. Solid beer,

ryanscourt (870) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Dark black with small thin head. Dark malts with fairly thin body with touch of bitterness at the end. Unsure about the saison characteristics here but whatever. Drinks like a really good swartzbier

12oz can. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a generous sized tan head. Aroma is a little watery roast, some hops. Minerally. Taste is semi dry and lightly bitter from both the malt and hops. Flavors of roasted barley infused mineral water with hop extract. High carb. Thin mouthfeel and clean yeast reminds me of a schwartzbier. Itís just ok.

On tap at Blue Monk in Buffalo, NY. Leftover from their tap takeover on Thursday. Dark pour, dark purplish brown. Dark fruits...raisin, plum, cinnamon. Not too heavy though, a sweet little saison. Not too bad; these guys make some decent beers.

On tap at the bocktown, nice place but a somewhat rude beer this is. Very dark with a creamy head that promotes attractive lacing. Surprizingly just a clean beer smell. Barely any co2 in this stuff. Practically flat. Taste is difficult for a saison. Must be quite alky strong. Canít find many saison attributes but Iím no saison expert, hehehehh. Bitter medicinal feel for a finish, not impressed.

Draft. Almost completely black, big brown head. Aroma of peppery, roasty cocoa powder. Taste is burnt espresso, dark cocoa. Nice.

Tap at Bulls Head. Pours opaque black with a medium, creamy tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, earthy hops and spices, figs and prunes. Flavor is dark malt dominant, light hops and medium hop and malt bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

JBPortland (1065) - Portland, Maine, USA - JUL 9, 2014
12oz can pours dark black brown with 2 finger head. Nose is malty grain, smoky dark cocoa, light fruity pine. Taste is similar with some sticky bitter smoke chocolate, ashy, soil, tiny metallic note which eventually fades. Finish is a mix of light bready malt, subtle yeasty fruit and herbal piney bitter chocolate. It doesnít all quite gel, but decent.
