whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 9, 2005 Bright amber body and rapidly vanishing off-white head. Aroma of cheap ice tea made from powder, stale malts, old lemons, and a hint of cloves. Lightly fruity malt flavor with some thin caramel and spice. Quite sweet with little hop character and bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy almost like club soda with some discernible body from the residual sugars. This is weak, lame, braindead beer. Fortunately this was a freebie and cost me nothing except a dull experience. I pitched half the bottle in favor of greener pastures in my fridge. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Jun 28, 2005 Updated: Jun 29, 2005Pours a very light brownish sort of color. Aroma is malty with a slight hop presence. Some sweetness as well. Very thin on the palate. Some malty bitterness, but overall this beer is lacking in flavor. Not really bad, just really boring. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Jun 22, 2005 Hmmmm, I don’t know what to make of this beer as it tastes and smells of nothing for the most part. I detected a passing hoppy floral note or two in the tasting, but overall, this was one of the most boring beers I have tasted in a while. Finish is watery with a passive hop note. demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Jun 19, 2005 I walked in to Kroger thinking I had more money than I actually had in my pocket. Looked for the Debit card... Damn left it too. So I left there with a cheap not so exciting beer. I hated Lawson Creek pale ale. This is less offensive than the PA, but is sub-par at best. It’s kind of blah. You have to strain smell any hint of hops and a bit of carmel. Leinie’s Red costs about a dollar more than this is a hell of a lot better. If you want to go the cheap route like my poor ass. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2005 Amber pour with aroma of caramel malt, toffee, some cabernet. Light palate, with unappealing balance and a lack of complexity. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 18, 2005 I have a bottle of Dark Lord in the cellar and I drink THIS. Light amber orange color with a blink-and-you-miss-it medium off-white head and nil lacing. Light roasted malt aroma. Light body with a vaguely sweet flavor of malt, along with a little fruit. The flavor falls off fast though. The finish is crisp and has a touch of hops. Pretty much what you would expect from Gluek. This is basically a Killian’s-type beer that isn’t offensive, yet does not really offer much. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA May 7, 2005 Poured light red with a light offwhite head. Aroma wasn’t much. Very light malt. This was extremely light on the palate for a red ale and fairly weak just like the pale ale I tried last night. Not much flavor or aroma to this beer. I tried one so I could rate it but after that I left the rest in the fridge for my brother-in-law. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA Mar 28, 2005 This is a very thin flavored red. Not much malt characteristic to it the way a red should have. The appearance wouldn’t be so bad if it at least had a decent head, but I just why go a mess up a bad thing when you got it going for you.
