"200-some odd imperial stouts later, I don’t think i’m EVER going to get sick of this style. Here is another really nice entry into the catergory. The maple in this 2011 bottle is quite subtle, but adds another component to a very complex brew. Chocolate malt, roasted coffee, a decent amount of bittering hops on the back end, vanilla. Covers up the 10% exceedingly well and is very smooth on the palate. well done! close to a 4.4 but after 1 try I’ll go with the lower score for now."

Almost black, thin cappuccino head. Maple syrup, roasted malt, dark fruit, and hints of chocolate. Sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Moderately carbed, smooth, and somewhat boozy.

Black color with a medium persistent foam collar. Aromas of cocoa, roasted malt and maple. Flavors of maple sugar, cocoa and roasted malt. Round mouthfeel. Couleur noire avec un moyen col de mousse persistant. Nez de cacao, malt torréfié et érable. Saveurs de sucre d’érable, de cacao et de malt torréfié. Rond en bouche.

750ml bottle. Huge thanks to dmac for sharing! Pours black in color with a small dark mocha head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, barrel, hints of maple sweetness, and booziness. Taste of dry wood, dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, sweet maple, barrel, and caramel. Very dry finish. Solid stuff.

Bottle. Black pour with brown head. Sweet and roasted malt aromas. Sweet, roasted malt, some maple tones. Has a bitter influence as well.

750 ml bottle. 2012 vintage. Shared with friends at Phatdog1’s house. Served only slightly chilled. Thick tan head when you swirl the stout around in the snifter. Dies to a thing ring after sitting. Chocolate malts sit on top of maple and molasses aroma. Taste is a smooth and roasty with the maple coming through more as sugar sweetness.. I would never pick out maple in this stout. Light smoke and ash notes. The body is a bit leaner then I was hoping for in a big imperial stout. The alcohol is total masked at this point. I’m wondering how much this changed over time because I never had it fresh. Anyhow, the stout in front of me is nice.

Tick black pour, a thumb of tan head. Roast, maple, vanilla, char in the aroma. Big maple here, dark chocolate, roasted malt, char, vanilla, anise. Medium to thicker body. A very good stout, albeit a sipper.

750ml bottle via trade with Leighton at RBWG 2014. Poured a great looking thicker pitch black body under a thick beige head. Aroma is burnt toast, burnt malts, charred maple. Good body, medium to fuller with average carbonation. Flavor of vanilla extract, charred oak maple barrel, vanilla, light chocolate, dark bread, sweet. Nice stuff.
