Draft. Pours a black body with a tan head with mild head retention. Very roast y body with coco, and chocolate malt otnes. Maple is hardly presnet only in that the beer appears slighty more viscous and a hint of sugar y sweetness. Fairly roast y boyd with a hint of sugar sweetness to finish.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Pours brown with little off white head. Aroma has plenty of roasted nuts and dark chocolate. Also notes of simcoe and dirt. Flavor has a nice nutty and roasted malt quality that is dulled by notes of chalk and alcohol. Slightly chalky mouthfeel with a surprisingly medium hoppy finish. I got no maple, but it’s still pretty good.

tap @ blind tiger - roast and chocolate, dry malts with some nuttiness, sugary with a layer of oakiness. Good, but not actually getting much maple.

Tap at BT> Pours a deep dark rich black with a thin lasting dull brown head. Aroma is big roasted barley, grassy and minty hops, and a definite maple character, but not overpowering or annoying- some nutty chocolate and light burnt hints. Flavor is more roasted barley, light coffee, dark chocolate, burnt toast, big toasty full biscuit, light sweetness and maple flavor towards the end with a green bitterness. Pretty good!

Thanks to Brian for sharing. Dark viscous pour. Thin beige head and minimal spotty lace. Aroma shows roast, chocolate malts, and light maple. Wish there was a little more maple here. Flavor follows suite

Sweet tick, thanks to jmu500 in a BA trade. Pours black and rather viscous with a huge thick and creamy tan head and excellent thick lacing on the glass. The aroma is rich and chocolaty with roast, coffee, molasses, maple, and hops. The flavor is, for lack of a better word, intense. Intensity in ten cities, you know. Starts with your typical imperial stout notes - roast, dark chocolate, coffee, maple syrup, and hop bitterness. Just doesn’t stop. Lots of IBUs in this one. Full-bodied as all hell with medium-low carbonation and slight syrupiness. Not really "deceivingly drinkable" as the label claims, but a great beer. Really extreme, and I like that.

Batch 120. Bottle 21/72. This one has a lightly sweet maple aroma and jet black color. Sweetness dominates the dark malts but doesn’t overpower. I could fee the 10% on the backside. Good stuff though.

(750ml bottle, #22/72, Batch 120, courtesy of thirdeye11) Pours an opaque black body with a spare brown head. Aroma of marshmallow, chocolate, maple, and something green. Flavor of toasted marshmallow, roasted malt, caramel, maple, and chocolate with a dry, bitter finish.

In short: A by-the-book imperial stout archetype. Nothing original.

The look: Black body topped by a very small tan head
In long: I took limited notes during our imperial stout blind tasting and this is the only one I’m rating. Medium roasted, a bit chocolaty, some caramel, medium bitterness, big body, etc, etc. Sweetness kept in check by roastiness and hops. Nothing original in the flavor department but overall this was a superior imperial stout. One thing worth talking about though is the “Maple” part. I knew this beer was part of our blind-tasting lineup so beer after beer I was trying to figure out which one had a maple flavor. At the end I had three potential candidates and funnily the Fayston Maple was not one of them. So anybody who says this beer tastes like maple is saying so because he saw it on the label. That’s it, I’m not letting anything I read influence me ever again. Beer labels, warnings on chemical products, road signs. Nothing.

Bottle number 22/72 from batch 120 thanks to thirdeye11. Pours a black with tan head. Aroma has a chemical alcohol note with dark roasted grain and vegetable. Flavor of dark roasted grain, alcohol, spice and vegetable with a dark roasted grain bitter. Mouth feel is heavy body with low carbonation and a bit creamy. Overall, not bad at all!
