On tap @ Lawson’s Farmers Market.

Appearance: Black with a medium beige head and little lacing.

Aroma: Espresso coffee, ashes, roasted malts, vegeral notes and light maple/caramel notes.

Taste: Medium sweetness with a burst of espresso coffee, light acidic presence from the roasted malts, maple notes and light bitterness.

Palate: Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Oily. A bit chewy. Light alcohol warmth. Espresso finish.

Overall: Rather heavy Imperial Stout considering the abv, but the balance isn’t bad. Quite flavorful with nice espresso features and an interesting maple presence. Tasty.

On tap at the brewery anniversary bottle release. Very opaque black pour, nice head. Aroma is very coffee, roasted coffee beans. Taste is bitter, roasty, tons of coffee, nice espresso flavor, woody, charred grain, light maple. Palate is full bodied, good carbonation. Heavy, but decently drinkable. Good stuff.

Thanks for the share JCB. Inky viscous black pour with a thin tan head. Maple-y nose with roasty notes and a sweet notes. A touch of soy sauce shines through as well. Acidic dark grain and coffee with some roast. Full bodied with no carbonation.

Draught at Farmhouse Tap & Grill, Maple Fest, 6oz half pour

Black with off white/tan head with low retention. Very malty and overwhelming sweet. Tasted too much like a milk/lactose stout with a near sourness to it. Slight/subtle maple. Very warm/alcohol/boozy taste. Full bodied and very creamy. A very harsh stout. Nice dry finish. The flavors didn’t seem to be well balanced. This is one of those half pours that I was glad I purchased rather than a full pour. Had a hard time finishing it even though the half pour cost more than full pours of other (better tasting) beer.

750ml Pours a rich burnt umber color with a finger of dark khaki foam. Lots of cocoa powder, soft hazelnut, earthy sawdust, burnt caramel and light backend maple. Roasted grain provides a nice backdrop for all the sweet undertones. Feel like this one has lost a bit of its punch and is slightly oxidized but still excited I was able to try it !

750ml bottle pours dark oily brown black with a finger of foamy tan head. Nose has rich semi sweet chocolate, soft maple, roast, hazelnut, coffee. Taste is creamy smooth body, rich roast chocolate ash and hazelnut coffee with soft integrated semi sweet earthy maple and caramel notes. Finishes moderate bitterness with great roast cocoa and coffee and some light sweet maple syrup and soft dark fruit notes. Really delicious.

"200-some odd imperial stouts later, I don’t think i’m EVER going to get sick of this style. Here is another really nice entry into the catergory. The maple in this 2011 bottle is quite subtle, but adds another component to a very complex brew. Chocolate malt, roasted coffee, a decent amount of bittering hops on the back end, vanilla. Covers up the 10% exceedingly well and is very smooth on the palate. well done! close to a 4.4 but after 1 try I’ll go with the lower score for now."

Almost black, thin cappuccino head. Maple syrup, roasted malt, dark fruit, and hints of chocolate. Sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Moderately carbed, smooth, and somewhat boozy.
