on tap reservoir, waterbury. clear bright golden with a very nice white head, good retention and lacing. bold citrus and grapefruit nose, light pine, mint. crisp malts, hint of toastiness. smooth. average carbonation, medium body, medium long citrusy finish. very good brew!

On tap at the Three Penny Taproom - Montpelier, VT. A solid and rich hop aroma, leaning herbal, minty, and leafy. I find the middle of this beer to be a touch too sweet and too boozy. I think the hop flavors are nice, but could be a bit more vibrant. The heat of the alcohol and the sugar levels gave this a slight sickly character that was hard to work with. Otherwise, I thought on the whole it was a pretty decent example.

Bottle/22oz - Pours a slightly cloudy orange amber in color with a medium white head that quickly settled to a thin covering over the beer. Some really nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is heavy with both citrus/grapefruit and pine hops as well as just a hint of caramel malt. Flavor is less impressive, hop-wise, but quite bitter and the hops are definitely present. Some caramel malts that, fortunately, do not balance the hops that well. Fruity, estery. Lingering hop bitterness. Alcohol not apparent, but definitely present. A REALLY good DIPA!! Reviewed from notes. Poured into a mini snifter. The color is a bit of burnt orange, Longhorn-style. A bit of slight haze. A good looking beer. Nice white head and quite a bit of lacing. The nose is just phenomenal with a really fresh, fragrant aroma coming from a good dose of citrus and pine hops. Really overpowering and one of the best hop aromas I have come across. The taste doesn’t disappoint, though it’s not quite as pungent as the nose. Really great feel with quite a bit of bitterness. This is pretty hefty to have all that much of, but it’s quite delicious and the nose is out of this world. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-14-2010

750 ml mottle 90 of 96, batch 176, drank from a perfect pint glass... The beer is a dark hazy peach with an off white head, ok retention and lacing... We had this after Ephriam so the taste and aroma seemed really light, however still refreshing and more drinkable than the E. The aroma is light floral hops, a little sweet overall, grass finish. Not blowing me away but seems sessionable. The taste is not at all like a dipa, tastes like a regular ipa with the higher alcohol content, no alcohol or pine at all. The front is swet with grapefruit and toffee with a floral finish, light bitter finish that is nice. I’d like to have this again without the residual effects of Ephriam lingering. The best Lawson’s I’ve had to date but nothing to go crazy trying to get.

Bottle number 13/96. Pours a cloudy orange color with a large white head. A nice sweet fruity hop nose, some herbal notes. The flavor is a rich leafy fruity concoction, only light bitterness, more caramel, earthy. rich smooth hops. A very good palate. The bitterness is in the finish for sure. Oranges and pear. Nice.

22, capped and waxed. Thanks, Dany! Pours a cloudy burnished medium amber with a dense, pillowy white head and plenty of lace. Big tangy nose of pine and grapefruit, redolent with bountiful oily hop acid on every updraft. Delectable. Creamy medium body with lively carb. A little toasty, nutty caramel underneath the mid-palate, but, really--no, really--this one is all about the hop. Pine, grapefruit, a little bit of pineapple, a big resiny pine finish. Delicious and drinkable. Not uniquely powerful, and not really a unique showcase for any particular hop or combination of hops, but wonderfully well done and a pleasure to drink.

Fresh bottle from gn0sis for Derek’s going away tasting. Didn’t record bottle number. Pours a deep orange with a thin frothy head. Lots of fresh hops in the nose. Thin mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Sweet then bitter in the taste which is composed of plenty of hop resin and grapefruit notes. The hops keep coming through to the finish for me (+1) and end on a dry pine finish. A bit heavy to drink a lot of, but definitely enjoyable.

750 ml shared at Derek’s Tasting. Pours a glowing orange amber, good haze, frothy offwhite head dies to a clinging thicker head. Aromas are thick and lush hops, florals and grapefruits, moves into some Amarillo, touches of tropical fruits, Simcoe, bubblegum. Big hops moving into caramel, toffee, bread, and biscuits. Initial is medium bodied, good hopping bitterness up front, moving into bitter florals, touches of grapefruit. The hop flavor profile falls back, decent bittering, dry with bread and biscuits behind. Ok, the bitterness smacks up front.. But then the flavor profile of the beer dies out overall. Feels hop pellet influenced.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2011 Bottle shared by Kyle, thanks! Poured a cloudy orange with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a beautiful dank pine note with a bit of marijuana and sweet grains underlying. Flavor had the same dank pine note with some grass, weed and a nice grain backbone.
