Had been served by tap at Three Penny Taproom, Montpelier, VT. Its a drably orange copper pour with a thick, sandy lion’s mane purposing as the head. Very, oh, how shall I put this, ..."sudsy". Smells and tastes of pine needles and its bark, American hops, yeast and goat cheese by mid-palate. Also it’s hinting at herbs, oak, tangerine and some light heat by swallow. I had tried it together with the Hill Farmstead Solitude #5 which is a very tart, dry, bitter and altogether zesty citrus DIPA. This is good, but seems to lack something. I guess it just wasn’t my thing. I’ll try this again in the future but I probably won’t buy bottles of it unless I actually need to.

2013-02-22 - tasting hosted by blankboy, with gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - bottle c/o blankboy. Hazy amber-gold, some tiny floaties, smallish off-white rocky head. Aroma is a bit catty, some tropical fruit - acidic, like the fruit wasn’t quite ripe, definite alcohol presence. Taste follows, a bit milder, less boozy - decent, liked the aroma more. Average body, astringent, not all that solidly carbonated, medium-length finish, a little dry acidity in the aftertaste ...

On tap in a flute/pint. Pours hazy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of floral and slightly citrusy hops with a lot of caramel and pale malts. Flavor too light on the hops and too strong on the malts. Average texture. A decent beer but cannot compare to other Vermont IPAs.

Pleasant surprise additions to Blind Tiger VSK night. pours hazy yellow orange with nice bug nose of hoppy goodness. Tastes of grapefruits, mangoes, tree bark, pine sol, dank hops, caramel, and earthy. Pretty heavy bodied DIPA and its bitter and not overly sweet. with alcohol warming on finish.

pour at home thanks to adnielsen aka pussypete aka catman197. pours a nice reddish orange, with a decent white head. aroma is distorted because i’m drinking it out of a mason jar as big as my head, but i get resiny hops and pine mainly. the grapefruity flavor belies the booze, and the finish is bitter but not overly so. all around an enjoyable experience

Bottle @ Greg’s palace courtesy of JBPortland. Thanks Josh! Pours a bit hazy yellow orange appearance with a cream colored head. Huge grapefruit creamy, mango, pineapple, a bit dank aroma. A bit sweet and somewhat goopy malty but full of candy, pineapple, mango, and other tropical fruits. A bit strong on the booze on the finish but enjoyable. Cheers Until Next Time!

Bottle shared with JBPortland, Thanks ! Pours a medium copper color with a finger of eggshell foam. The nose has some sweet cotton candy, touch of citrus and a big toasted malt backbone. The palate follows and is round sweet and not very pungent Iike I was expecting. JB said this tasted nothing like the one he had had previously a week before... which makes me suspect some major bottle variation... but this was pretty meh as far as a Lawson’s DIPA goes.

Fresh bottle shared by Lunch. Thanks Paul. The beer appears golden with a thin white head. The aroma offers butterscotch candies, must, floral hops, candy. Sweet and sticky. Cotton candy with sweet alcohol and floral hops. I’m told that this is not a good representation of this beer. Odd and cloying. A touch of citrus, but that’s entirely overpowered by sweetness and cleaning solution. Fail.

From 10/24 notes. 22oz bottle purchased 10/24 from the Warren Store. Pours slightly hazy orange gold with 1 finger head. Nose is dank earthy pine, soil, evergreen, leaves, dirt, tree bark, sap, vanilla cake. Mouthfeel is big maltiness, medium carbonation. Taste is rich bitter hops, maple notes, sap, evergreen, pine needles, dank resin, layered herbal, basil, oregano. Finish is lasting bitter, some green spices, with a touch of warmth on the tail end. Awesome!

Review from backlog, bottle tasted early October 2012. Pours dark burnt orange caramel, medium frothy white head. Aroma is bright citrus grapefruit, dank onion, fresh pine forest hoppiness, nicely integrated caramel malt background. Taste is grapefruit, earthy pine, onions, rough caramel malts, bitter finish. Course, medium palate. Super hoppy, but perhaps not my favorite Lawsons IPA.
