COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was brewed in memory of Greg Noonan, who created the first VT spruce tip ale back in 1990 at VPB, of which I was an early fan and inspired me to make at least one spruce beer a year. Our friends at VPB, Steve Polewacyk, Russ Fitzpatrick, and Tommy Noonan joined in the fun to pick new spring growth spruce tips, brew the beer, and just on Monday we bottled it with a special label!

Bottle. Pours murky yellow-orange with a thin white head that lingers. Tastes like I'm drinking a Christmas tree! Wood sap resin flavored. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the Warren Store in Warren, VT. One if the most unique beers I’ve ever had. Huge spruce (pine) on the back end. A very good IPA body, with piney hop aroma, but the spruce finish makes this beer. So different, want to take this one on my next VT hike.

Bottle from brewery via Em. Pours a light orange, little to head. Aroma very pine-forward, resinous yet fresh. Some citrus rind, too. Body slight with a hint of malt, lovely, hardly any bitterness. Tasty and well-balanced.

What an awesome way to begin my vacation with two great Lawson’s tap offerings at the Prohibition Pig. Clear pale orange with white froth. Nose is orange peel, toffee and light spruce. Medium body; creamy with a soft tang. Taste is mild toffee, grain, spruce and grapefruit pith.

Very interesting, and obviously pine-y, beer. The aroma is somewhat normal but the taste shows off a bit of quirkiness. It’s good. Just not sure how frequently I would drink.

Backlog 2013. Bottle shared at Franks. Pours an amber golden body. Aroma is light with notes of wood, cedar, grapefruit and spice. Mouthfeel is medium with much stronger flavors of spruce/wood. Christmas tree in my glass.

Bottle shared with the group. Pours a hazy dark golden amber color with a medium plus sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have big spruce and herbal hops with just enough toasted bread and caramel malt to attempt to balance. I thought this was good, but could see people being turned off by the big spruce notes.

I mean I have had piney IPAs before but this was straight up like chewing on a tree whilst skiing. Nose runs the course of citrus, pine, spruce hops. But damn if the taste is not just straight up spruce. Its like and not cloying, yet it is so prevelant that it is distracting from the rest of the brew. I dig the 100% accomplishment of making a spruce beer, but perhaps it is nor entirely my bag. Glad it was a shared brew.
