GABF 2015. Deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Loads of maple syrup, some roast / smoke, coffee, a little bit of char. Somewhat sweet but not cloying. Kind of a fun Impy Stout to boost.

2012, 12oz (375?) bottle. Black pour slight tan head. Aroma is heavily roasted malts. Taste is dark malts, oak, very sugary sweetness. Decent stuff. My friends at the tasting were raving about these faystons, but they weren’t doing it for me.

Bottle thanks to NickDrista! Pours inky black, medium brown head, lasts and laces well. Aroma is roasty, cocoa, maple, woody. Flavor is medium sweet, fully bitter, lots of cocoa, wood tannins and maple. Pretty damn hot. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Lingering bitterness and a bit of a bite from maple. Interesting.

Bottle shared with Luk. Opaque black pour with creamy mocha foam. Aroma is really desserty, tons of maple, light roasty aromas, mild coffee, chocolate brownies. Taste is very sweet, lots of maple syrup, light chocolate with a roasty coffee finish. Palate is full bodied, slick and sweet. A bit too sweet IMO, but still pretty tasty imperial stout, not as sweet as the rum version.

(375 ml. Bonne!

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass at 13 degrees Celsius: Black with a lively and quick disappering brown head. Aromas of maple, wood, caramel, coal, ash with a light alcohol tone and hand in hand followed by roast and molasses. Flavours of maple, roast, wood, bitters, light caramel, some dark chocolate, sweet coal, light spice, light herbal roast, light alcohol, hints of molasses and liquorice. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, roast, dark chocolate, leaf roast and hay roast. Low carbo, light watery light silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied.

Bottle (375 ml). Bottled december 2012. Thanks to Pete for this one! Deep black with a medium slowly diminishing thick brown head and little lacing. Aroma is of vanilla, roasted malt, sweetness notes and strong wood presence. Taste is moderately sweet (not cloying), roasted malt, wood, vanilla, maple notes and light acidity that fits in quite well. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Roasted finish. Pretty good RIS. The maple has certainly faded, but it’s still pretty good and there’s still a nice maple touch. The alcohol is well hidden, Balance is good. Easy drinking for an 11% abv stout.

Bouteille 375 mL. Fall 2013.

Bottle sample March 2013 notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate, maple syrup, wood, caramel, great flavor with a lighter body than most imperial stouts. Solid.
