(375 ml.

Bottle (375 ml). Shared by JulienHuxley, thanks!

Appearance: Black with a medium dark brown head, low retention and some lacing.

Aroma: Quite boozy at first but it then settles down a bit with rum, brown sugar, oak, maple syrup (quite sugary), roasted malt, moderate spiciness and light fruitiness.

Taste: Sweet, sugary and boozy with rum, brown sugar, moderate acidity, roasted malts/coffee, maple syrup and oak.

Palate: Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. A bit syrupy mouthfeel. Sticky maple syrup finish. Boozy and alcohol warmth.

Overall: Not super well balanced, too boozy and sweet for my liking but I can see why someone would like this one as it’s really flavorful. I’m not the biggest fan of either maple syrup or rum so this one started with two strikes.

375ml bottle pours oily black brown with small dark tan head. Nose is chocolately roast, light spice, maple, touch of herbal sweetness, hint of mint. Taste is similar with a wonderfully creamy smooth palate that sits so soft on the mouthfeel, fudgey chocolate, maple, roast, well integrated barrel spice, vanilla cream. Finishes with some sweetness and a continuation of the palate, chocolate spice with bits of fruit and herbal vanilla. Wow this is good.

Bottle shared. Deep black pour with tan foam. Aroma is really boozy, sweet brown sugar, fruity alcohol, light spice, grapes. Taste is sweet, boozy, lots of alcohol warmth, lots of maple, lots of rum, sweet. Palate is med-full bodied with light-med carbonation. Sticky. A share of a bottle was enough.

Thick black pour from a 12 oz bottle. Thanks Long! Malty nose. Slightly sweet finish. Some maple, malt and a little spice and heat from the rum.

375 ml bottle. Aroma is real nice, coconut, dark chocolate and mild maple syrup. The body is what I look for in the style, thick, rich and full. The base stout I have always liked and the rum treatment although is light is indeed there. Vanilla, mild oak, notes of rum. Pretty rich and sweet flavor but never cloying. Very nice.

Bottle split at the 5/7.5/10K tasting, thanks to LKS, 30/12/14. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is chocolate, molasses, dark fruit rinds, pinch of spice, raisens. Taste comprises maple cyrup, chocolate, light charr, toasted brown sugar, liquorice. Medium + body, fine carbonation, subtle rum strokes in a sweet close with lightly warming alcohol. Solid BA impy, drinks below the ABV.

12.7 oz bottle. Dark brown with a fading tan head. Nose is rum, wood, hints of maple, ash and molasses. Smooth medium body with a tang and building heat. Taste is rum, chocolate, maple and burnt sugar. The rum brings out the sweetness of the maple.
