COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beauty was created by filling two oak barrels with Lawson’s Finest Maple Nipple ale that had previously held a Maple Bourbon from Saxton’s River Distillery in Brattleboro, VT. We patiently waited a year, then blended the oak-aged beer with a small portion of fresh beer. The result is Sticky. 9% Alc.vol. Bottled - December 2013

Bottle. Pours dark leather brown with creme colored head that lingers. Sweet bourbon aroma over high carbonation. Flavors of toffee and vanilla with a balanced hop finish. A tad bit boozy. This is an outstanding beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

375 ml. bottle split by 3 @ “Memorabel Tastingkje”. Obtained in a trade with AdamJackson! Dark brown amber with little head. Lots of molasses in here with an almost liquorish quality to in the nose, very sweet brown sugar with a spoon full of bourbon vanilla, cereal, toffee. Taste is very heavy on maple (the whole feels barely beer-like), dark grapes, lots of cinnamon, thick apple juice, toffee, light molasses,, lots of oak vanilla, bubblegum, toffee, nutmeg, light yam, sweet maple, low carbonation, thinner body than expected. Almost maple syrup with added flavours, very nice, quite far removed from beer taste-wise (not a critique but more of an observation). Very interesting & very nice beer and exactly how I hoped that this would be like.

375 ml red-waxed bottle. Pours a great translucent ruby mahogany color with 1-finger tan head that laces well. Nose is woody oak, maple, malt. Smells great. Tastes malty, with a heavy oaky flavor, subtle maple enhancer flavor, and a rich and smooth finish. This one is stellar.

Bottle shared with Brian, pours purple brown with light off white head. Aromas and flavor are maple, banana creme pie, vanilla, oak, bourbon, scotch and malt. Really rich in flavor but body is lighter and easy to get down. This one is so much better than regular nipple.

375ml from 12/21 farmers market poured into a Lawson’s snifter. Very dark brown with a good sized tan head. Aroma is dark fruits, brown sugar, gingerbread, a little bourbon and wood. Taste is rich... molasses, vanilla, oak, bourbon. Mouth coating and slightly sticky. Very enjoyable on a cold evening.

375 ml. bottle from PhillyCraft. Thanks Vin. This pours a deep mahogany color with an orange head. The aroma is very nice with strong maple syrup cut by some bourbon, vanilla, wood and caramel. Some plummy fruit in there as well. The flavor is strong with caramel, vanilla and maple syrup. The body is substantial, but not cloying. Maybe some background plums and raisins before a slight alcohol burn. It has some wood and more maple in the finish. I think they made a good choice cutting this with some fresh beer, as it keeps the intense flavors in check and smooths out the alcohol and body. A really nice fireside warmer.

375ml bottle pours dark opaque burnt brown with red edges and a finger of tight foam. Nose is rich maple, bread, grain, subtle sweet malt, light bourbon spice. Taste is tasty semi-sweet malty bread, pacakes with syrup and lingering notes of maple, dark fruits, touch of oaky spirit spice, and some sticky sweetness. Yum!

Bottle from this week’s past farmer’s market. I think there’s no point aging this one as it’s already been in barrels for a year and sean intentionally added fresh maple nipple so that has me thinking it’s good to go now. Amber / reddish hues, almost golden. Nose is biscuity caramel and maple sap with a bit of birch and nice vanilla and charred oak from bourbon barrels. Taste is leaps and bounds better than maple nipple which I wasn’t a huge fan of. The bourbon treatment compliments the maple perfectly...reminds me of one of my new favorite things which is maple bourbon barrel aged. It’s still not mind-glowingly good but I do like how this beer has improved over regular nipple. Sadly, it suffers the same problem as nipple which is that big burst of maple that you get only in the last ounce of the beer...i guess the flavor settles so I’d recommend a half pour, swish the bottle a bit and then pour the rest in your glass.
