22oz bomber supplied by Nick... Thanks for grabbing me one! Pours a orange honey hue, slightly opaque with a decent white head. Smell is fantastic. Fresh citrus, sweet grapefruit and really clean. Taste is resinous hops with the grapefruit bitterness, orange peel at the end. Medium body with just enough carbonation to tickle the tongue. Another great IPA from Mr. Lawson.

On tap at The Reservoir: Pours amber with a two finger white head. Aroma floral, a little grapefruit, and other tropical fruits. Slightly sweet taste well balanced with citra and centennial hops. Incredibly smooth, a little oily, and medium bodied. Really nice IPA.

Clear bright golden color, dense off-white froth. Softer aroma of grapefruit, orange, mango, and pale malt. Light sweetness followed by even milder bitterness. Very smooth, though a little oily, and light-bodied. Almost no alcohol presence

From 10/23 notes. On draught at The Reservoir in Waterbury, VT. Pours bright light orange. Nose is fruity, floral, mango, grapefruit. Mouthfeel is crisp carbonation up front, nice light (but not thin) body. Taste is bitter, grassy, tropical citrus fruit, well balanced, grapefruit. Finish is big bitterness, fruity hops, tropical fruits, orange rind. Awesome!

Draft at prohibition pig in Waterbury. Pours a nice golden haze with a little head. Amazing citrus and piney flavor typical of most vt IPAs ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle... Clear golden pour with a small, wispy, white head. The aroma is a mélange of musky, grapefruity and tangerine-like hops. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The great hop flavor is bitter, but not overly so. Lengthy, crisp, bitter finish. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

Bomber. Pours a hazy amber color with a small foamy head that fades normally and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is somewhat musty, nice citrus, tropical fruit, light pine, light flowers. Taste has a strong caramel malt base to go with the citrus and tropical fruit hops. Very light sweetness, moderate bitterness. Finish is slightly dry. Medium body, a little foamy in the mouthfeel. Solid IPA but not one of my favorites.

Bottle. Hazy gold pour with lacy white head. Aroma is quite lemony, some piney notes, typical VT IPA (take that west coast!), lemongrass, light fruity malts. Taste is a tad more bitter than other similar IPAs, still quite fruity, light alcohol feel.

It’s a cloudy glass of beer. Dark orange in the shadows and glowy yellow-orange in direct light. Medium head, off-white. A blanket of little bubbles. Good lacing and retention. The aroma is a very bright blend of citrus and tropical fruit. It smells like a smoothie made of oranges, tangerines, pineapples, mangoes and papayas. Rich and fruity and citrus sweet. Very little malt character. Just a pungent load of hops. My only knock is that the aroma could be a bit stronger. This bottle is pretty fresh, but I wouldn’t be shocked if a pour off a newly filled keg would raise my score. The taste has wonderful hop flavor, particularly for a 7% abv beer. It’s just packed with complexity and delicacy. The bitterness is fairly mild. It’s just got a ton of flavor. It has that same mix of citrus and tropical fruit. Very bright and sweet, though there’s little malt sugariness. It’s just all fresh, tasty hops. What malt can be found is light and a bit cracker-ish. Long finish full of grapefruit-ish hop bitterness. Pretty dry. Mouthfeel is medium. Really fills the mouth with flavor. Nice dry finish. Good platform for the hop flavors. This is an excellent IPA, on par with the best of the style. I’ve been very impressed with all of the Lawson’s beers that I’ve tried, and I’m thrilled to be able to sit down and have a bottle of Triple Play to myself. Great stuff.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Chippo33 (thanks Paul), pours a cloudy opaque dull golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is full of tropical fruits, a blast of piney and resinous hops, and a big of caramel biscuity malts. Flavour is intensely fruity, full of peaches, mangos, and pineapples, truckloads of resinous hops, and a nice caramel malty backbone. Extremely juicy and very hoppy, backed beautifully with generously malting, ending on fruity and hoppy notes, leaving a wonderful astringency. A wonderful IPA.

A nice hazy traditional amber color, a bubbling foam head, and some floating sediments. The aroma is very inviting. I picked up on fresh citrus, grapefruit, and hops. The flavor is similar to the Heady Topper but the Triple Play lacks the DIPA intensity. I find the difference in that gives the Triple Play its own great identity. Plus the hops are ridiculously good. I tasted everything I could smell. There was no surprises in flavor. It had a great citrus body. The finish has a hoppy bitter kick and is enjoyable if IPAs are to your liking. That in turn impacts the palate. Overall this was a great brew. Its worth getting your hands on a bottle.
