csaso (1464) - Missouri, USA - DEC 17, 2014
Bottle - small foamy head, medium clear straw gold color, very sweet malty and corn aroma and flavor, mild hop balance, pretty standard Euro pale lager, just without the alcohol bite

Cerveja leve, com sabor acentuado de cereal. Sabor e aroma bem fracos, como esperado de uma 0% alcool.

33cl bottle thanks to Erzengel. Thanks for this beast Gabriel! Color is dark gold to orange. Head is thin. Taste is light bitter. Body is thin. Aroma is high cereal. The interesting thing about this is that it really tastes like cereal!

EtTuCthulhu (1141) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - MAY 13, 2014
The color is a very clear dark orange with a small white head that fades extremely fast, and the aroma is pure malt with a hint of toastiness. The taste is slightly sweet and a touch sour, and the palate fuses a thin and slick texture, a light (if not lacking) body, slightly sweet finish, and an average carbonation.

It gets an A+ because it’s halal. I have nothing else to say, but I need 75 characters so I will tell everyone reading this that alcohol is bad for your health. And it’s nijis, so tfeh.

Many thanks for this bottle to Erzengel. Standard yellow pour with a head that holds it own. The sweet malty aroma carries several inches. This drinks with a smooth mouthfeel, silky even.

Erzengel (3554) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JAN 31, 2014
green 33cl bottle, 17P: 03:06:13 - 30E: 02:06:14, found at El Khawas, Wuppertal.
The "beer" starts malty, sweet, watery. More watery than sweet. Taste is a bit like green vegetables… probably due to the "nature identical malt flavour" - never had a "beer" with something like that in…. And as this "beer" contains "malted barley" as second ingredient, why do they need the flavour? The aftertaste is not better - even worse. Very abrupt ending - no aftertaste at all.
--> Not really a good alcohol-free one. Due to the taste that reminds me of green vegetables not even thirst-quenching… --> 0/7/0/0

No alcohol, no fermentation. No good. I knew this beer would be terrible, but I was intrigued by it after reading an Economist article about Halal-approved ales (perhaps Halales would be a clever portmanteau?) in Middle Eastern countries, so I picked up a bottle at a Mediterranean cafe. Bad, bad, bad idea. The citric acid and hops create an apple-ish taste, but with the benefit of alcohol sugar, this ends up tasting like rotten apple cider. Without a doubt, one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted. It’s a good thing that this isn’t my only option.

Flaska.
