Draft, April Brews Day. Dark brown pour with a large beige head. Has a slightly vegetal chile smell with roasty coffee underneath. The chile notes are really understated in the beer, and I found myself hoping for more of an actual burn. I only got any heat from this if I took a large gulp and let it linger. The porter basis was very ashy tasting with acidic coffee notes. I liked the idea of this and like porters and stouts as the basis of chile beers, but it seemed like this could use a better balance of flavors.
