Nothing wrong here at all, just nothing particularly interesting either. Black porter, malty aromatics, dark flavors. Needs more to become memorable.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2159) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 11, 2011
650 ml bottle pours reddish black in color with a finger of light tan head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is very mild with some light roasted malts and dark fruit. Taste is light roasted malt bitterness and dark fruits with some malty sweetness and light hoppy bitterness. Seemed to have more Belgian ale fruitiness than chocolate malt of a porter, but otherwise a tasty beer.

Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a fine bubbled khaki head in this glass - retention is on the average side - with light, spotty lacing present. The nose has a mineral / metallic feel to it - there is only very mild chocolate notes present - otherwise, it is slightly nutty, if anything. The flavor profile begins with this metallic note, moving into this thin bodied, mild mannered brown concoction that doesn’t really seem to appeal to me in any way. It improves a bit - but I found it very boring, overall
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 anderson01 (163) - Idaho, USA - NOV 18, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2011 Frothy, creamy, mocha-colored head. Black in color. Very good lacing. Coffee and chocolate are noticeable in the aroma. For some reason I smell swiss cheese. I like that combination. It taste like burnt coffee. It gives you a really nasty aftertaste. It has a very thin texture. It has very weak carbonation. The aroma and the appearance teased you in the beginning of the rating and ended in a disappointment.

Black color with lasting tan foam. Big cocoa mix, dark roast malt, mocha aromas. Light smooth mouthfeel. Taste is not as good as the smell, with medium roast malts, nuts, and lightly astringent tobacco juice to finish--decent
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 killjoy966 (566) - Washington, USA - AUG 16, 2011
22 oz. from Chuck’s. Completely serviceable porter, just not a whole lot to impress. Smells fantastic; rich and roasty. Taste falls a little flat. That could be because I had some rather spicy Dal Bukhara with it. Just finishes a bit thin, is all.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 SHIG (2689) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAR 21, 2011
Bottle: Poured a black with a carbonated light brown head that was fast dissipating. Light hints of chocolate and some grass. Taste is a mess with sour grain, burnt roasted malts if that makes sense and some bitter chocolate.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 IndianaRed (1734) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 21, 2011
Bottle pours black with a thin fizzy short lived head. Roasted aroma and flavor. Fairly ligh bodied and a little sweet for the style. Nice but not too interesting.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (4765) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 26, 2010
In short: A lacklustre, empty-body, roasted dark brown ale of some kind.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed (relatively fresh?) a few months after purchase. Tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Clear dark brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose has some brownies, a tiny bit of smoke and a light annoying fecal matter smell. Taste is roasted, a bit nutty, a bit fruity, dry bread crust. A light acidity in the finish. The body feels empty and airy. 80% of this beer is bland and the other 20% is problematic. This is lame, lame, lame. If that beer was a horse I’d have to shoot it.

Bottle at a tasting.
Appearance : Dark brown, tiny head.
Aroma : Lots of roasted malts with some hops.
Taste : Roasted malts with hops. A bit acidic.
Overall : Thin body, nice roastyness. Carbonation is very soft. Not bad.
