COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulf Porter is the first beer of the year in our Brewer\’s Choice Series. Carefully brewed with select malts, oats, and hops. We rely on the yeast to provide the spicy note and the rich character of the beer. With warm notes of toffee, coffee, and a little chocolate this porter is a beautiful beer. Sure to spark a lively discussion on the finer points of Southern living.

Brown pour, light head. Roasty and light chocolate aroma. Flavor is much the same. Good but not world class. Still a drinkable porter.

Growler courtesy of The Cheeseman in the mystery swap. Pours a clear ruby hued brown with a medium sized tanned beige head. Caramel, a bit of toast. Pretty empty overall, not offensive or anything but just lacking so much that makes a good porter, well…good. Finishes with more watered down roast flavors and caramel. Mediocre. But, my first Mississippi beer.

Growler… Clear, deep ruby beer with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The nose is mainly of toasted nuts and easygoing milk chocolate. Almonds really stand out. Medium to full-bodied and slick with stinging carbonation. Moderate chocolate and espresso flavors. Hopped up nicely. Lengthy, moderately bitter, coarse/dry finish. Growler courtesy of TheCheeseMan!

xs2500 (180) - Mississippi, USA - FEB 7, 2010
Pours a dark amber, aroma of toasted malts, cinnamon, and coco. Flavor is typical run of the meal for a porter with a hint of cinnamon. All in all not bad for our little home town brewery.

Light brown color. Aroma of unprocessed grain. Thin palate. Much more of a brown ale, and not such a bad one. But this is far too thin and light to be a porter. The Southern Pecan was a much better beer. Thanks to Skyview for Sharing this one.

Growler sample (Thanks Bob!) Dark ruby brown pour, plenty of carbonation and a good nutty aroma. Flavor was also rich, nutty and a earthy. Pretty good, glad I have a growler of this coming in trade later this week.
