COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia’s original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia’s version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle, compliments of shrubber85, poured into a shaker. Black with small dark brown highlights and medium/small light brown head. Aroma is light lactose, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly creamy texture, and good medium-bubble lacing. Taste is roasted malt, some sweet potato, and hints of lactose. Not overly sweet, pretty good, shrubber85 with a state tick.

Malt and fresh bread on the nose. Creamy dark head. Toasted malt, spice, and molasses. Not my favorite, but interesting. I don't get much sweet potato ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Sweet smell. Pours a dark chocolate brown with tan head. Tastes of spices, sweet cream, bitter cocoa, and a little coffee. Lingering coffee bitterness. Very thin. I was expecting more.

Aromas of sweet potato, vanilla, milk chocolate. Almost black but with a ruby tinge, moderately lasting tan head. Initial malt sweetness, roasty, coffee notes, a little sharp on the finish. Medium-full bodied.

Toasted malt aroma with a khaki diminishing head. Initial toasted chocolate taste finishing with a sour yeast above average lasting finishing. I do not tend to like stouts but this one I could drink.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear dark ruby-brown with a large fizzy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of mild roast, lactose, spice. The taste is roast, potatoes, earth, lactose, tart finish. Thin-medium bodied, decent balance.

Bottle thanks to Suttree. Pours opaque brown with ring of khaki head. Aroma: milky; chocolate; sweet potato pie, baking spice and all. Taste: chocolate, some spice, moderately sweet; sweet potato really comes through surprisingly. Again, like pie. Light bitterness in the finish. Medium body, creamy texture. Overall: I came looking for a random state tick, I left with a surprisingly tasty beer. Nice!

Bottle shared with Chris -- thanks. Mississippi tick, oh yeah! Pours dark (obviously) with a tan head. Gently sweet, roast and ash, mild sourness, definitely lactic, sweet potatoes all up in your face (though I wouldn’t even know it except for the recent SN beer camp 12-pack experience). A bit thin but otherwise unobjectionable.
