COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnoliaís original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnoliaís version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.

1/2 pint at Trappeze Pub. This is rather dark with a decent head. The aroma is sweet with lots of chocolate and caramel with a nuttiness. I didnít really get any sweet potato until I took a few sips. Itís kind of mild but provides a smoothness, for lack of a better word. Itís a pretty sweet beer with plenty of chocolatey flavor, but not over the top. This is one of the better things Iíve had from Lazy Magnolia.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Light roasted malty aroma, with coffee and sweet malts. The flavor has hard roasted malts, coffee, and a light nutty sweetness. Pretty good.

Draught. This is a nice smooth stout that goes down well as an after dinner special.

Dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same. I get a light amount of char as well as some heavily roasted malt. There is also a hint of sugary sweetness. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Tampa, Fl - Total Wine - 12 oz bottle. Deep dark black oily pour, sticky khaki colored head, light film of lacing. Aroma has nice lactic notes with some bittersweet chocolate notes. Flavor is full bodied with some bittersweet dark chocolate, a bit of day old coffee and a hint of licorice. Mouthfeel has a nice creaminess to it, good lacticity, Impressive.

black color, aroma of coffee, chocolate, graham crackers, same flavors, getting a little sweet potato, and slight lactose, not to creamy, rather chalky, but very seasonable and lots of flavor for the low abv

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark mahogany with a tan head. Aromas of smoke, roasted malt, licorice, coffee. Little sweet at first, then turns bitter. Iím not picking up the potatoes, but I like this one.

Bottle... Poured black with a moderate head. Malted tones, some roast, and a hint of sweet potato on the nose. It was nice. Nothing too crazy or special about this one. But a nice drinking beer none the less. Some hints of light cocoa and lactose. Sort of reminded me of that dish with sweet potatoes and marshmallows. Some roast and toasted sugars/malts. Certainly a stout worth trying.

Bottle sample at a tasting in Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. As Jeff Stout. Very dark brown with tan head. Roasted yam and slightly chocolatey aroma, a little smoky bitterness in the mouth, along with vegetables esp. sweet potatoes. Bodyís a bit too light, aftertaste that reminds me of the liquid that comes out of oven-roasted sweet potatoes and mild carbonation.

c/o GreatDane1632 - Thank you Dane! 1st MS beer. Aroma - this is the only place where the sweet potato showed up for me. Itís the yam/sweet potato candied thing going on, but you have to hone in on it. You can tell itís going to be sweet in taste, there is also nice roast quality to it. There is also a little coffee tucked in there as well. Appearance - body is black; liquid is opaque; the head is light brown/tan starts about 1/2" and it eventually settles into a thin slice Taste - is primarily sweet, there is a bit of roast, some chocolate, and a bit of roast. Palate - body is full; the texture is creamy; the carbonation is average; the finish is a nice mild roast, very silky smooth and enjoyable.
