COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia’s original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia’s version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.

Tap on Bourbon Street. Thick opaque black with a steady oily beige head. Mellow roasty chocolate aroma. Classic stout, big mossy chocolate tones. Medium to full bodied, quite sessionable. Mild roasty coffee notes. Straightforward, a well done offering.

bottle pour..fairly black color with tan decent head..nose has roasted nut character..some chocolate..bit of cinnamon..maybe nutmeg..mouthfeel is light bodied fairly thin palate with a little coating of sweetness..not really getting much of the sweet potato, but that is probably a good thing..happy to sample but real glad I only purchased a single of this..

Appearance: dark brown, with a short-lived creamy tan head and no lacing. Aroma: beautiful smell of dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and milk chocolate, over a light earthy, toffee, leather note. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, vanilla, brulee’d sugar, with an earthy candied yam undertone. Finish: lingering bittersweet chocolate and vanilla cream, and again the earthy sweet potato note sticks around. Notes: Creamy palate, sweet but semi-dry flavors. Sweet potato adds a really nice note, and some other flavors (caramelized sugar, vanilla, etc) remind me of a Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole. Really quite enjoyable.

Bottle: Pours black with a thick brown head. Sweet potato, coffee, chocolate aroma. Taste is creamy, roast chocolate and coffee. Not a lot of sweet potato, just enough to impart a light, earthy sweetness. Pretty tasty.

Bottle. Lactic chocolate malt, ash and sweet potato aroma. Black with moderate long lasting tan head. Sweet cocoa malt and roasted sweet potato flavor. Lightly bitter ash finish. Light body. Not bad - would have liked more body.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque black color, 1" creamy brown head, a few light strings of lace. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is thin, watery malt that grows much bigger in the palate, maybe adding some sweet potato in a somewhat burnt finish. Overall, it has a moment of big stout flavor, but mostly it doesn’t live up to the name.

12oz bottle into pint glass. Pours coal black w very minimal head. Can taste the sweet potato. Not as much of a coffee taste as most other stouts. A good beer I’d drink again but didn’t blow my socks off

Not as much sweet potato flavor as I had hoped for! I know this is the leading brewery in Mississippi and I love the name of their beers....just wish the taste matched!

12 oz bottle from a BA trade from backlog notes. Pours dark brown in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, lactose creaminess, the sweet potatoes are faint but with warming became more noticeable, caramel, interesting combination of flavors, body is on the thin side.

Pour is a black with a very small tan head. Aroma is a decent roast malt with some bitter chocolate. Flavor is a nice char malt with some sweetness and caramel. I did not get an sweet potato but that’s alright it’s not my favorite thing. Decent stout though. This beer from this brewer I thought I would like the least I actually liked this best.

Bottle; dark brown color with a light brown head. Aroma of lactose, veggies, cocoa and caramel. Mineral finish, before surprising caramel note. Some veggie, char and caramel. Some sweetness.
