4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at the Bulldog in Jackson. I was searching for this or Ginger Jacque and lucked up because this beer is severely limited due to the availability of the barrels.
It poured with a nice thick head, which slightly disappeared. Definite aroma of bourbon/caramel. Beautiful dark color. Drinks way too easily. Very smooth and fills the mouth.
I can’t describe the taste - but if you like whiskey you will love this beer. It is absolutely amazing. You can definitely tell it was aged in whiskey barrels.
If you get the chance to try this brew, don’t pass it up.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at BoomBozz Pizza and Taphouse - Highlands. Pours a honey color light tan. A bit hazy with no real head. Aroma of bourbon, honey, caramel, and a bit of pecan. Taste is sweeter than expected. Bourbon, caramel, honey, candy like sweetness, with a bit of vanilla, pecan, and a sweet fruitiness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, sticky texture, somewhat bitter, tasty but quick finish of malts and caramel. Overall very good. The bourbon barrel aging changes up the taste from the Southern Pecan quite a bit. But in my opinion, this would have benefited from aging longer in the bourbon barrel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
draft pint poured a cloudy brownish color with a white head...the aroma up front was of bourbon and some vanilla or caramel tones. the flavor was kind of strange flavor of bourbon but very mild like it hadn’t been aged long enough. some vanilla tones under the bourbon and yet couldn’t taste any of the pecan or other flavors. just not a fan.

There are a lot better barrel aged beers out there. No head. Nice mouthfeel but still watery brown ale with a slight barrel taste. Barrel and jack is very very subtle for abv not impressed. Average

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Lazy Magnolia Southern Gentleman is a nicely done bourbon barrel-aged brown ale. Light aroma of fine bourbon. Pour is dark brown bit with a thin head and body. Taste has notes of fine bourbon and oak with no alcohol bite or an overwhelming quality. Finish is a little flat with a slight maltiness. Southern Gentleman pulls off the bourbon barrel aging without going over the top with it.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Appearance: Clean dark/amber brown
Aroma: Vanilla, booze, hint of toasted nuts
Taste: No bitterness, nice sweet vanilla, bourbon undertones, slight nutty earthiness.
Palate: Light body, extremely drinkable.
Overall: The light body of this beer makes it exceptionally drinkable, but also allows for the bourbon and oak to come through and blend with the pecan backbone. Shows that you can make a complex, tasty beer without going through the roof with ABV. (from notes)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a beautiful clear mahogany with a fairly thick, though not persistent, fluffy wheaten head. Aroma has a strong overtone of bourbon-infused oak, plus hints of malt and pecan and a touch of caramel. Superb flavor has malty and caramel notes plus an oaky overtone of bourbon, making it downright lip-smacking. Smooth texture has decent fizz and firmness, and leaves an oaky bourbon finish with a hint of caramel. Now if only the rest of Mississippi would wake up to the fantabulous realm of craft beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler... Clear new-penny copper with a small, creamy, off-white head that is short-lived. The aroma is a luxuriant intermingling of caramel, maple-pecan crème and vanilla. Light-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and jazzy carbonation. The well-balanced, malt-forward flavor nearly mirrors the bouquet, offering lush notes of vanilla and maple-pecan crème. My lone criticism is that the flavor is a touch thin and bland. Finishes crisp and refreshing, but malty and rich at the same time. Many thanks go out to Elliesbrown for floating this growler my way!
