Lazy Magnolia Southern Gold is a smooth session ale that is a little on the mild side. Light amber pour with a decent head. Faint aroma of honey. Taste is on the bland side with the honey note returning on the aftertaste. Southern Gold has some nice honey flavors but falls flat on the middle.

This is Rob’s favorite beer from Lazy Magnolia. I thought it was a bit weak and watery, and I couldn’t taste the honey in it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2012-03-17. Dark golden body, tiny white head. Muted aroma, mild pale malt. Sort of buttery. Similar flavour, sort of buttery floral malt, very light bitterness. Average bodied palate. Okay, I’d drink it again but probably wouldn’t but it again. The band was better than the beer. On tap at Fritzel’s on Bourbon Street as N’Awlins Gold, NOLA

Wasn’t "Southern Gold" one of those K-tel records from back in the 70’s? No? Sure? Anyhoo, Sure enough, It’s gold, with a thin white head. Smells grassy, with a little bit of honey. Flavor is pretty much the same. Nothing earth shattering, but tasty.
