Southern Hops’pitality is our offering of delicious cheer to Lazy Magnolia’s loyal fans all over the Southeast. A traditional IPA at its core, we have built Southern complexity into this new brew. The aroma is a bold citrus burst on the front end with hints of tropical fruits such as grapefruit, orange and mango in the finish. Lazy Magnolia’s brewers used a unique hop blend for an exciting dry-hoped aroma. Southern Hops’pitality has a Light Straw color and crisp, smooth finish on the palate. With an alcohol content right at the 6% ABV limit and a very hoppy 60 IBUs, Southern Hops’pitality is breaking new ground for Lazy Magnolia and the Magnolia State.

On tap at Taco Mac. I was surprised by the low score this beer received. I thought it was a decent IPA. Hops dominate the aroma - both citrus and pine present. Not real balanced though, mostly bitter pine hop flavor, but not unpleasant. Oily mouthfeel, body might be just below moderate. Overall, nice hoppy IPA.

Pours a nice light golden color with off white head. Aroma is piney with tart sappy citrus texture. Flavor has a sweet and sour muscadine vibe with a pleasing toasty caramel finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is juicy, tropical and bright with some notes of mango, pineapple and a touch of peach. Interesting and nice.In the taste I get more of a bitter, resiny, citrus rind flavor to it. A little of the juicy, tropical fruit flavors come out but they seem to clash a little with the bitter citrus rind flavors. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being moderate. Overall it was a pretty good beer, the different hop flavors just didn’t seem to come together as well in the taste as they did in the aroma.

Clear, golden pour with a rocky, white head. The aroma is very fruity with notes of mango and orange peel. It has a medium body with oily texture and average carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with more bitterness in the finish.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a hazy gold with a thin white head, aroma us of light hops, kind of stale as I realized this was bottled over 2 months ago now, flavor has a hoppy front end but has kind of a skunk flavor too. Maybe would be solid if fresh, but just doesn’t quite do it.

Huge rocky/fluffy head. The colour is lightly golden and a bit cloudy. The nose is lightly citrusy and a little bit fruity. There’s a little bit of light fruit. There’s some nice earthiness and a touch of flint. Some definite tartness in here - a bit of very light lactic tartness. Meh. I think this might have been good once bit it’s a bit clashy now.

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of biscuit, orange zest, lemon zest, pink grapefruit, peach and tropical fruit. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, peach, orange zest and pink grapefruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering citrus finish.

Bottle. Pours golden with a huge off-white head. Smells of sweet citrus hops. Tastes of citrus, but very thin.
