Southern Hops’pitality is our offering of delicious cheer to Lazy Magnolia’s loyal fans all over the Southeast. A traditional IPA at its core, we have built Southern complexity into this new brew. The aroma is a bold citrus burst on the front end with hints of tropical fruits such as grapefruit, orange and mango in the finish. Lazy Magnolia’s brewers used a unique hop blend for an exciting dry-hoped aroma. Southern Hops’pitality has a Light Straw color and crisp, smooth finish on the palate. With an alcohol content right at the 6% ABV limit and a very hoppy 60 IBUs, Southern Hops’pitality is breaking new ground for Lazy Magnolia and the Magnolia State.

On tap at Taco Mac. I was surprised by the low score this beer received. I thought it was a decent IPA. Hops dominate the aroma - both citrus and pine present. Not real balanced though, mostly bitter pine hop flavor, but not unpleasant. Oily mouthfeel, body might be just below moderate. Overall, nice hoppy IPA.

Bottle - Lots of bubbles was the first thing I noticed on this beer. Light flora and citrus notes on the nose. Not a strong bitterness on the palate. Lots of citrus tastes going on here. Because of all the bubble it almost has the mouth feel of champagne, light, playful as you swirl it around.

12 oz. bottle dated best by 8/11/16 into a pilsner glass. A: Dark, mostly clear gold color with a small quick head, busy bubbles and patchy lacing. S: Nice sweet orange/tangerine scent. A faint bit of caramel. T: Not sweet! Very crisp tart flavor of some cross between citrus and evergreen. Seems distinctive and tastes pretty good though even if it is a bit thin. M: Thin body even for 5.5%. Average carbonation with a sour/bitter finish. Slight resin. O: This is different in a good way. I like milder IPAs so the ABV is agreeable and the bitter/sour hop note seems distinctive if a little odd. I’d buy it again.

I really like this. It has a nice, bitter aroma with a strong citrus note. Bitterness tries to fill the mouth but the grapefruit puts it in its place. Leaves a nice tingle on the gums. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz Bottle from the AOPD Monthly beers The IPA poured a clear light amber with a small off white head. The Head dissipated slowly with some lacing. The aroma of grapefruit rind greets you. The taste was more complex and quite good. The ale had a medium body with citrus hop bitterness as the dominate flavor. The carbonation was average and worked with the overall texture of this ale. On a mission trip eight years ago I was able to enjoy the beers from this brewery in Beloxi. This ale has a nice smooth finish with citrus bitterness on the tongue.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice hazy amber with an orange tint. Aroma is pleasant with tropical fruits. Rather piney taste up front, with notes of mango, and a decently bitter finish. Good IPA for the lower alcohol at 5.5%.

Amber pour. Light on flavor, semi bitter. Review from memory. Standard run of the mill IPA, mixes into a crowd.

Mais citrica do que aromatica, com toque de maracuja. Amargor persistente e um pouco desbalanceado. Vale experimentar.

A little better than I expected, based on the lower ABV% and IBU. Seemed hoppier than 60 IBU, and decent quality from the dry-hopping. The balance is what seemed a little off though, thus drags down the rating a few points. Texture and feel could also be a little cleaner, but overall slighty above average for an IPA. The single sample was good...just don’t know if I’d get a 6 of this.

Fairly assertive grapefruit mango and light melon aroma. Straw gold, less than clear, dregs in bottle, light white head, little lacing. HUGE grapefruit with orange, mango, tropical and citrus flavors, pineapple. A little astringent, otherwise palate is spot on for style. Overall a fine ’local’ IPA. Sad it took me this long to try this one.
