COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Tap poured. Funny aroma that pours with minimal head. Lightly hopped. Not one of my favorites.

Bottle shared by Chalemeaux, thanks TJ! Pours medium amber with a huge beige head that won’t fall. Aroma is wet cardboard, caramel, slight pecan. Flavor reminds me of sweet tea. Honey, sugary tea. Not really tasting the pecan here. Nothing to counteract the sweetness here.

Poured from bottle with thin lacey head color is rich amber. Aroma of caramel and taste is like sweet tea. Looks better than it tastes.

Copper pour, thin but determined head. Nose is caramel malt. Little on the sweet side. Middle is toffee, pecans, and caramelized malt. Finish is pecans and light brown sugar. Different, but pretty good.

On tap at Dewey’s pizza in Worthington, Ohio. Lazy magnolia southern pecan is an interesting take on the typical my brown ale. The pecan aspects are evident in the nose. The brew is a medium brown liquid with a fine head of white bubbles. Taste is a good hearty nutty flavor. .Body is full and round. It finishes just a bit sweet. Very nice beer.

Rated based on notes taken 20 Dec 2011 -- This is a solid beer. Adequate malt base that is enhanced by the nutty pecan flavor. Very enjoyable beer to drink.

Clean and quaffable, with a nutty aroma and a slightly sweet but full, mouthfeel. Rich on the finish and satisfying as an alternative to a straight malt beer.
