COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

I think my bottle is infected, because it tastes like a sour ale or something.

Bottle at home from Steve N. Basically a mild brown ale with faint roasted pecan in the nose, middle, and finish. Very light bodied, watery palate. A bit more malt and sweetness would have brought out the pecans more. Lacks oomph. Almost no hop character.

Keg at the Beer Sellar, Nashville, 15/02/15. Amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is light pecan, syrup, sweet, caramel, nutty. Taste comprises caramel, sweet, bread pudding, light spice. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation - overcooked, semi drying close. So so affair but definately the best beer Iíve rated from Mississippi at this point in time!

Reddish brown pour with a wispy tan head. Aroma is lightly nutty with a hint of sweetness. Taste is nutty, pleasant, malt, a little dryness. Ok beer. No lacing.

Malted grain, caramel, a bit of earth, nuts, a hint of vanilla, and subtle floral hops in the aroma. I wouldnít be able to tell there are pecans in it from the nose alone. The mouthfeel is silky, with prickling carbonation and a light body. The taste is gently bitter, with nutty and malty sweetness rounding it out. Barley, floral hops, and a bit of nuts to finish off. The pecans become a lot more evident in the aftertaste, which decays into a fruity sensation. Not as exciting as it sounds (Iím a big proponent of pecans), but absolutely pleasant and very drinkable.

Got a 12oz bottle at Fresh Thyme market in Cincinnati. Pours clear brown with a fairly thin, soapy head. Aromas are light, but sweet and malty. Body seems a bit on the thin side, with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is soda-like, sweet...a bit weak, to be honest. There are some nutty notes, which you would expect from a brown ale. I suppose I get a little of the pecan flavorómostly in the finishóbut I would have expected the pecan flavor to be a lot more interesting for the way itís being hyped here. Mostly it just seems like an average brown ale; itís a bit uninspired. I love pecans, so I was hoping for more from this beer.

On tap. Pours clear light brown with no head. Aromas of malt. Nut certainly comes through on the flavor, with smooth sweet malt.

Aroma is nutty, malts and slightly grainy. The flavor is very nutty, malts/grains, light fruit and a slightly tart/smooth finish.
