A- Malty, caramel, burnt sugar.
A- Mahogany color, clear liquid, off white head.
T- Malty, caramel, roasty, slightly sweet.
P- Light body, thin texture, average carbonation, roasty finish.
O- Iíve been intrigued and wanting to try this beer since I started drinking beer. Damn, if I wasnít let down. But that seems to be the case whenever you want to try something so bad. I love love love pecans and was hoping for a nice nuttiness to this....I could not even taste a hint of nuttiness. Sigh. Thin on the body and pretty much just malty and caramel notes. The color is gorgeous but the beer overall just left way too much to be desired. Almost, Lazy Magnolia, almost.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Got an entire sixer of this because, really, how bad can a pecan brown ale be? Pours very light brown with a teensy head. Smells kind of funky, though, like a malt liquor. Nut finally starts to show as it sits in the glass, becoming more sniffable. Flavor-wise, the pecans donít hit until the finish. This is a very, very different beer. I would never have been able to classify it on a blind taste test. There is also a strong wood element. I donít love this, but I donít hate it. Drinkable, but would I get a sixer of this again? Not likely.

Palate-itís pleasant and very easy to drink. Extremely smooth and pretty tasty. Hard for me to sense the pecans though! Iíd drink again.

It poured an amber brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was of roasted nuts, maple, sugar, toffee, caramel and some chocolate. The taste was similar with a little lingering bitterness. It had a medium body, with a creamy texture and medium carbonation.

12oz bottle from Total Wine-Greenville S.C. courtesy of Zizzybalubba. (Thanks G) Light brown hue, murky clarity with 1 finger thick off-white head. Very lively body particles. Heavy floral notes, light citrus hop, earthy, vanilla aromas. Strong malt and pecan shell up front, sweet finish (cake icing). More of a light fruit finish as it warms. Oily texture, soft carbonation.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Medium brown pour with an off white head. Aromas of caramel malts and pecans. Flavor is similar. Not bad but far from exceptional. It just needs more complexities to it. Taste is just too standard issue.
