COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Sampled in Florida. Great aroma, good appearance, lacking in flavor - the roasted pecan flavor is evident but there isnít much else going on there.

Nice deep brown-ish color with a off white head. Nutty and fruity aroma. Medium body. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Toffee, malty and some dried fruits in the flavor. Decent.

35,5cl bottle shared by Cunningham, thanks a lot! Pours clear amber with a modest, off-white head. Sweet, caramelly and mild malty with notes of dried fruits, and sugar. Too sweet for ny liking, but still fairly drinkable. Fair enough.

I was worried this was going to taste like it had a bunch of pecan flavored syrup poured in it but it thankfully does not. It is still not exactly a great beer but at least it does not taste like some kind of awful Starbucks coffee beverage. Itís amber brown in color, maybe slightly cloudy w/ a small but long-lived head. This beer has a pretty solid malt character w/o being all kinds of sticky and sweet so thatís good but then it has just a slight metallic edge to it and, really, who wants that. Still, I didnít mind this stuff and could drink a couple if I felt like it. The only nutty character I got out of it seemed more like it was from oxidation than actual roasted nuts but I donít know the first thing about anything.

Draft. Cranberry-brown, dark yet very clear, with a cottony head of tan that recedes quickly. Aroma: subtle pecan and walnut, a little caramel, a dash of buttery vanilla. Mild caramel sweetness runs through the flavor, which is accented with very subtle nuttiness. Flavor is light and more like an amber ale than a brown. Medium-light body, mild CO2. Drinkable but a bit soft in flavor.

On tap at Cooter Brownís Tavern. This beer is very smooth compared to other nut ales there is no bitterness to it. It doesnít smell like pecans but you do get a taste of it on the back end. Very good!

This beer is smooth and easy to drink with subtle notes of pecan shells. I bought this beer at a local Specs store by chance and I have gone back to buy 3 six packs since.

From bottle, pours a clear dark brown with red hues, large beige head that stays around. Nose is yeast, brown sugar, nuts. Medium body, sweet, soft carbonation, slightly oily. Long pecan finish, with more brown sugar. Exactly what I expected, enjoyable, one of the better browns Iíve had.

(draft @ Huck Finnís Cafe - New Orleans, LA) Brown pour with a thick tan head. Nutty and sweet caramel aroma. Mild flavor of sweet malts and a light hint of pecans. Pretty nice but wouldíve been better with a bit more pecan flavor.
