COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

12oz bottle. Pours mahogany with red hues. Aroma of caramel, sugar daddy (candy), nuts. Flavor of caramel, bread, pecans, vanilla, brown sugar. A fairly sweet and bread brown ale. Sweet and nutty like a pecan sweet roll. Not bad flavors, but a bit too sweet for my liking.

Poured from bottle a amber with some off white head. Aroma was nutty, fresh cut wood, toasted malt. Taste was of a very nutty English brown. Nut was prevalent stright through the finish. Malt heavy and Slightly sweet but I did not get the pie that some got. I think the pecans imparted more nutty notes but sweetness was on par with other malt heavy English Browns for me. Interesting and enjoyed.

Aroma: malty without much complexity; Appearance: amber with thin, white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: also malty but with unpleasant aftertaste and thin mouthfeel; Palate: medium body with odd finish; Overall: not interested in buying again.

Pours amber brown, with a lasting effervescent cream head. Nose is pecan and malt. Taste is brown malt and nutty. There's a smooth, yet crisp mouthfeel. A slight dryness that seems English in style, and some sweetness on the tongue as well. Pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
