3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fritz123 (286) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - JAN 13, 2013I’ve never heard of or have had Lazy Magnolia. This was the first. Draft in South Florida. I really enjoyed this beer. It poured a pretty off-orange-light brown almost like a Blue Moon. I was thinking it would be too sweet or too citrus flavored based on the smell. Instead it surprised with a robust hops, rye overtones, citrus flavors and light malt flavors. It was smooth but with robust flavors all around. The citrus was primarily orange and maybe passion fruit.

Clear dark golden color with rich ivory foam. Spicy, skanky, pine hoppy aromas with some caramel. Medium body with average co2. Pine, floral, grainy malt, mild spice flavors---not enough hops or rye for me

Aromatics are heavy on rye malt and caramel. Some slight hop characters in it but not much. Overall the taste is what brings this out as a IPA. It starts with a lot of hop character, pine, resin, and subtly bitterness that flows into sweetness on the backend. Overall, a great beer!

An ok double IPA. I was excited about this beer because of the rye addition, but I’m not sure I can identify where it is in the beer. The double hopping may have hidden it. Josh brought this one back with him from Mississippi in 2013.

Burnished gold color with a thin off white head. Big hop resin nose. Thick taste of candied orange peel and red grapefruit with a strong, grany backbone. Syrupy mouthfeel with a strong hop resin finish and a nice richness that I associate with rye. Pretty damn bitter.

Bottle--love that I’m drinking this on the back porch! Solid amber color with nice size head that sticks around for the whole drink. Aroma has a decent amount of hops with some malt and rye. The taste is sweet caramel with the rye as a backbone. Bitter, thick finish in which the alcohol doesn’t appear until the sip is finished. Great stuff. Total Wine.

Bottle. Nice American pour ... light orange-laden amber, thin top. Big, spring blossom aroma of citrus blooms. Drinks with a nice tart smack of acidity, orange, flowers, green leaves ... quite the green tea effect. Very nice American beer ... the 9% is exceptionally well hidden! Wow. (#5039, 5/26/2013)
