Amber/copper pour with a white head. Big resinous pine and grapefruit aromas. Nice rye notes, sweet bread, and caramel. Nice tropical fruit character, too. The flavor is fairly sweet and malty. Good grapefruit and tropical fruit with lots of pine. Quite bitter which balances the caramel and bread sweetness.

Bottle... Pours cloudy and orange with a huge, frothy, white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma provides heaps of tangerine and grapefruit in conjunction with a medley of tropical fruits and more rye spiciness than you find in your average RyePA. Medium to full-bodied with lazy carbonation. The flavor is a well-balanced assortment of tropical and citrus bitterness, big rye spiciness and pale malt sweetness. Finishes moderately bitter with a whisper of salt. Muchos kudos to garmonbozia for floating several bottles of this to me!

Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #124. Bottle at The Tattooed Moose, Charleston. Pours a clear copper color with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of resin, candied citrus, citrus, floral hops, strong rye notes and toasted malts. The taste is bitter rye malt, citrus hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness.

Pours a clear copper-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that diminishes gradually. Rings of lacing. The aroma is hoppy with citrus and malt notes. Medium to full body with flavors of piney hops, grapefruit, pear and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering resiny hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

My Bottom Line:
Super floral almost soapy hoppiness dominates this Imperial Rye Pale Ale, leading to resinous hop bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A fluffy layer of foam tops the misty amber shine.
-This is relatively dry, and malts don’t have much flavor to offer either.
-Big bubbles and dryness make for high drinkability (for this gravity).
-The hop character is also quite citrusy.

Bottles.
