3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16oz can. Pours a filtered tanned yellow. Thin, soda-like head. Classic brewhouse aroma, lager yeast, mild noble hop. Probably the best made in the state. Smooth, clean, refreshing. Sublime, easy going, classic. Not so hopoy for the style, leans into the clean golden malts.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz. can, consumed on 7-5-14. Dry aroma features scents of champagne, hay, manure, compost, and overripe orange. The off scents are subtle, but they are there, and there isn’t much good to make up for them. Cough-inducing smell. Pours a clear gold/brass. The slightest hint of a green hue, in the direction of Yellow Chartreuse liqueur. Light effervescence. Small to moderate amount of short-lasting, beige head. Smoky, dry, leathery taste surprisingly features a coal flavor as well as rye bread. I like what’s going on in the flavor a lot more than I do the aroma. Quite tasty and interesting. Medium body. Not as crisp in the palate as a lager should be. Somehow lively (although only a bit so) and undercarbonated at the same time. Forgettable palate effects. Overall, Lazy Monk Bohemian Pilsner constitutes an odd combination of legitimately good flavor and legitimately bad aroma. Unfortunately, the appearance and palate do the beer no flavors. It definitely is a memorable pilsner, and I am happy to have experienced it. I am giving extra weight to the flavor in the overall score.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap in Waukesha, pours a golden amber with slight foamy head. The aroma is mild with a banana yeast smell. The taste has a lingering chalky and bitter feel. Finishes with a dry, bitter, yeast taste. Not too bad.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can:   Bright straw, orangish, thin white head, frothy, little lacing.   Odd herbal aroma, seems a bit sweet, but also a touch corny.   Seems like a touch of ashtray is in there.   Noticeable on the tongue, that ashtray.   Slight smoke, which is odd.   Old stale air, almost like bike tire.   Reminds me of Epic Ales saki yeast.   Sweet and malty otherwise, but odd.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Odd beer, ashtray, like an ESB, but with a nice sweet grassy maltiness.   Don’t care for the ashtray...   Thanks Bob!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yeasty and bread nose. Palate follows suit. Well made pilsner beer. One of the better beers of this style

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler from Lazy Monk Brewery Taphouse. Pours a beautiful deep gold with medium white head. Nose has rich dough with toasty overtones of fresh baked bread backed by assertive noble hops with an aroma of hay and herbs. Palate is very round rich and full for such a pale style. Flavor is hearty and breadlike but also quite refreshing, with slightly bitter herbal hop notes throughout which linger long into the finish, in fact after each swig fresh hop tang remains in the mouth for 3-4 minutes. Absolutely delicious stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at GNBF. Poured clear, bright golden with a short-ish white head. The aroma picked up sweet honey and bread with fresh orange and grassy hops around.. well-balanced. The flavor found semi-sweet honey and pale malts at the core.. fresh, mostly grassy bitterness around.. a touch tangy and metallic on the finish. Lighter-bodied and crisp on the palate.. very good feel and flow.. good example of the style.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours dark gold with quickly disapating head (from growler). Herbal aroma with earth and yeast backing it up. A great balance of hops and breadiness, actually has a good amount of carbonation. Nice malt character to give everything body, quite unlike American pilsners. A very very easy drinker, sitting out grilling and having a glass of this would be a most excellent day. I really enjoyed this and at the start of summer I found my stand by since it would be uncouth of me to drink imperial stouts year round.
