Quevillon (1292), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Sep 29, 2006 Bu sur place, en échantion (5 oz). Rousse foncé, petit collet. Arome assé bien d’houblon fruité. Goût de fruit sûrette assé présant, peu d’houblon. red éric (1382), montréal, Quebec, Canada Aug 18, 2006 Cloudy amber hue, with an off-white head, sweet toasted malt, with a nice spicy nose of coriander, ginger, and a hint of candied orange peels fruitiness, with some raisiny and plumy notes, toffee accent, and faint floral aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasted malt, caramelized malt, a vinous touch, fruity accent, subtle spicy character, leading towards a malty fruity finish. MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 10, 2005 The Lure: Stately sticky foam crowns the floral honey sweetness. Cherries emerge from the prevalent fruitiness.
The Festivities: Very mild but prickly carbonation is overcome by the powerful honey. Cherries lay on the soil, hit by some alcohol warmth. Finishes smoothly and quietly, apart from the rampant honey of course. A fun but rough and ready version of Bedondaine’s sweet creation.
Transcendence: The bears are smiling. Ungstrup (11137), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 2, 2005 A hazy brown beer with a small light brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of toffee and caramel. The flavor is surprisingly spicy with notes of coriander, anise, and celery. I’m surprised by the big difference in the flavor and aroma. Rastacouere (5270), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 28, 2005 Nice beige foam. Copper-to-ruby body. Strong minty orange nose with every ingredient coming out nicely, the honey first, swiftly followed by the herbal and leafy coriander. Nice overall spiciness. Well blended spicy character doesn’t stop a wet feel to enhance drinkability. Incredibly well dissimulated alcohol. Light-medium bodied, creamy texture, grainy bitterness. Good stuff
