This one is different than the Bieropholie version as it has a different yeast and hops. It has also some difference through the fermentation process. The malts and the honey are not exactly the same. And, of course, this one has less alcohol. They have the same type of aromas, but some esters are really not the same.

Bottle. Light gusher. Dark brown pour with creamy off white head. Aroma of cherries, grapes and chocolate, lots of chocolate actually, some light honey notes. Taste of dark fruits, cherries, plums, grapes, honey. Body is a bit watery but carbonation is fine.

The aroma is toasty with toffee, caramel, cream, and dark fruit. The appearance is dark red-brown with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall a very good beer.

Rich amber in colour with a large lasting beige head, good lacing. Aroma is of alcohol, malt, caramel, dark fruits, christmas cake. Flavour is sweet, some noticeable alcohol, moderate sweetness, lots of fruit, cake. Sweet and malty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, warming, sweet.

Not quite as good as the Bieropholie version, lots of alcohol in this.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2012 Bouteille 500ml.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2012 Bottle 500 ml. Outstanding beer, one of the best Scotch Ale from Quebec. Maybe a little strong on alcohol, but it is well hidden. Nice aroma of toffee, caramel, honey, with notes of porto. Sweet taste, well blanced. Medium bodied beer.

Belle couleur caramel, odeur de caramel un peu faible, goût sirupeux de sucre et chaleur d’alcool, palais chaud et plaisant, bonne scot all, je recommande.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton,MO. Pours dark mahogany with a creamy/bubbly/frothy beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits with some florality and a hint of miele. Med body. Flavor is awesome. There’s ripe light pitted fruit, a touch of treacle, and a lot of complications. And some florality. It’s not exactly dry, but it’s not all that sweet. Heat isn’t even in the equation. Maybe it finishes like cola. I’m sure the sweet is from honey, cause there’s a residual mouthfeel of honey. Anyway, this is pretty neat stuff, whatever it really is.
