Une des rares dunkel québécoises, la Nelligan possède une belle robe brune-orangée et une effervescence assez importante. Ses saveurs varient des céréales légèrement torréfiées au boisé d’une rousse rehaussé de noisettes, le tout étant soutenu par du pétillement un peu trop intense. Au final cependant, c’est une agréable bière de blé, pas trop lourde (peut-être même un peu trop mince), bonne représentante du genre, et qui, sans tambour ni trompette, est quand même réussie.

App.: Deep brown with rusty hues and a large tan head. Aroma: Rich, fruity malts, yeast, slightly minty herbals, reminiscent of an Abbey Dubbel, dark bread crust. Palate: Medium body, gentle effervescence. Flav.: Some of the nice malt notes with an unfortunate tang...infected; dry with limited bitterness and an infected, tangy finish.

Unfortunate.

Bottle: Poured a light clear brown color dunkelweizen with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing as well. Aroma of banana bread with light caramel malt notes is quite nice. Taste is a great mix between some lightly sweet malt notes with light caramel malt and some excellent good banana bread notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Great example of the style with good attenuation and super nice ester.

I was in for a dunkelweizen, but had to compose with the missing of one key ingredient; wheat. Never had even a slight weizen mouthfeel, and even if the yeasty profil keep telling me that I was drinking a dunkelweizen, It felt so short...Easy to drink, not a total waste of money, but...still needs to improve!

Bouteille 500 ml. Robe ocre plutôt opaque. Léger collet beige. Arôme de blé et de malt roti. Au goût, on discerne de touches de noix. Sucré et bien équilibré. Pas très complexe. Pas particulièrement ronde en bouche. Légère, plaisante à boire, quoique sans grandes qualités...

Bottle - 500ml. Cloudy dark brown body with an average off-white frothy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty and nutty hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries the same yeasty and nutty notes as the aroma. Some oaky and subtle plummy notes are also noticeable. Ends with a decent bitter/grainy finish. Not bad.

Pours dark brown with a light beige ring. Aroma is chocolate, dark raisins and small toasted malts. Taste is a little thin, hazelnut, dark chocolate and toasted malts with a nice wheat texture.

Aroma; Mainly banana with notes of jelly beans, barley sugar and bubble gum. Nose is fairly sticking out. Appearance: Dark brown, creamy and very long lasting head, no lacing at all. Taste: Attack is smooth, a bit sparkling with well established banana notes. Looking for other flavors...hum...may be a bit of toasted bread and hazelnut. Body is light to medium, texture watery and carbonation soft. Finish is metallic and average lasting. Acceptable dunkelweizen.

Bottle 500ml. Pours brown with very high beige head. Some lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, wheat. Taste is of malt (sligthly acid), some roasting. Palate: thin body. Overall: Refreshing. Not complex, but nothing straigth-up bad in there.
