SteveAGreen (10), Wickwar, Wotton under edge, England Dec 24, 2002 A tawny / amber beer. Malt, hops and fruit are the main features in both aroma and taster but are well balanced.
wunderbier (1261), Finland Jan 10, 2008 Muddy orange-brown hue with a medium-sized, off-white, frothy head. Citric-heavy perfumes strike the nose first, strong on the oranges and grapefruit. Apples, Fuji perhaps, come next along with a generous bready malt profile and the aroma of cherries plus their pits. Lightly sweet and peppery to begin, the flavour picks up some leathery yeast notes towards the middle and finish with some sweet prunes, but also hoppy, bright and floral. Medium bodied with a watery texture and forceful, slightly off-putting, carbonation. With warmth comes the impression of Queen Anne pocket melons. Fitting, considering the English background of this brewery. Shared out of a 75cl bottle at Gastropub Tuulensuu. FatPhil (2408), Espoo, Finland Jan 7, 2008 750ml bottle (Tuulensuu, Tampere, French days 2008) shared by Pat - thanks!
Rich brown, tiny head. Soft light aroma, malty. English ale taste - quite woody, and a bit nutty - a little drying. Quite well balanced. Zingy and interesting. oh6gdx (6460), Vaasa, Finland Jan 6, 2008 Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is rubber, caramel, some sweetness. Flavour is malts, caramel and grass. Fruity aftertaste. TBone (5172), Pori, Finland Jan 6, 2008 Bottled (BB 10/2008)
Brown amber color, not much head. Grainy, notes of caramel, grass in the nose. Cellary, toffeish malty flavor. Aftertaste has nice English hops. This beer starts as a typical French biere de garde, but then turns to very British bitter-like.
