3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
7.11.2014. Like cola. Fresh aroma with pineapple, passion, slight pine. Pine in taste, slight roast, slightly stuffy hops. Balance between roast and hops is not that pleasant.

Bouteille de 660ml. Arôme quelque peu timide mais frais et agréable. Col mince. Belle couleur noire intense. En bouche c’est un parfait équilibre. Enveloppante, juste assez amère. Un délice!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sampled the 2015 Nelson Sauvin version of this collaborative beer. Thick off-white head on a black body. Some grass, fruit and malt on the nose. Taste features a nice blend of fruity, grassy and floral hops, roasted malt, a hint of alcohol warmth, a touch of chocolate and a little rich caramel. Well crafted and integrated. A really tasty, but not cheap, black IPA.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, bitter, black, cloudy, frothy, overall an excellent production coming from two of the best microbreweries in Quebec. With it’s aroma of coffee and chocolate, the bitterness of the IPA gives it a nice finish that reminds a bit of grapefruit and pinetree. Excellent quality product and it’s nice to know that Pit Caribou might make it accessible again. Good job, boys, you made my day !

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
(650ml bottle from Dépanneur La Duchesse d’Aiguillon, thanks to my girlfriend!) Pours black with a big dense pile of off white froth that lasts for quite a while and leaves a carpet of lace. The aroma is hop driven with resin, citrus peel, floral notes and a bit of fresh grass and pine layered over dark malts which provide light roast, caramel/treacle and a dash of coffee. On the palate, sweetish dark malt core with light roast again, with hints of chocolate and black coffee, but the hops are the focus. Citrus oriented, a bit floral, light resin and pine. As the beer dries from the middle on with roast light but present, a moderate hop bitterness builds that is a little spicy. Hint of sweetness and fruit lingers at the core of a dry finish. Medium body with medium carb. This is a black IPA that drinks like the name, rather than like a hoppy porter. The roast character is quite restrained and lets the hops shine, while the hop choices play well with the roast that is present. Super drinkable, very tasty, and this bottle seemed pretty fresh.
