COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Rafraichissante. Bonne saison.

Pours a light pale golden color with three fingers of bright white foam. Nose is a nice mix of light rustic grain, grapefruit, straw, some earthy peppery yeast. Palate is bright and focused with great citrus punch, lime, grapefruit, clean malts, rustic fieldgrass, fantastic carbonation and mouthfeel that leads to a lingering bitter grapefruit finish that has a nice tang too. Delicious !

(Rating #5668)

Love this brewery but this beer is kind of blah. Smells like grain, with a bit of pepper. Tastes like grain, with a bit of pepper. As it warms the wheat starts to come through a bit more. The finish is nice, just slightly dry and ambiguously bitter. Sometimes I feel like I get a bit of the grapefruit zest this beer is supposed to contain, sometimes a hint of lemon, but mostly it’s just bread dough with a bit of pepper. Not their best effort

Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color ale with a nice large foamy had with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light fruity ester and rustic malt with some residuals sugars is quite nice. Taste is a mix between some light fruity ester with rustic malt light peppery yeast notes and some subtle zest notes. Body is lighter than style average with good carbonation. Well brewed overall and quite enjoyable even though the grapefruit notes are not as clearly evident as advertised.

[Bottle at Mondial 2014, Montreal] Pours a lightly cloudy, very pale gold with a small lasting frothy white head. Aroma is sour and citrusy along with more fruit, pale malt and light grassy hops. Flavour’s nice and refreshing, sour, fruity, grassy and quite herbal. Average bodied. I enjoyed this.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (660 ml). Courtesy of Minderbinder, thanks! Hazy pale yellow/golden with a medium spotty white head and little lacing. Aroma is peppery with sulfur presence, cereals, yeast and light grapefruit. There’s less sulfur in the taste but it’s still presence. Taste is also yeasty with peppery notes, light grapefruit presence, decent malt backbone and light bitterness. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Decent Saison overall, but the grapefruit isn’t that much present considering how it’s advertised and the sulfur is borderline problematic and definitely shouldn’t be there. Still drinkable, but not one that I will seek again unless they make some improvements.
