In short: A very toasted brown ale with everything you want from this style
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear copper body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is toasted and lightly fruity, a bit of a fruit-cake going on here. Taste is very toasted (bread crust, salad croutons, whole-wheat crackers) , roasted nuts, tree bark, citrus fruits. Nourishing full body. Pleasant citrusy bitterness. Brown ales are never the most exciting beers but this one is a superior example of this usually boring style. An easy to drink session beer, I got two pints because I don’t know the barman and when a stranger offers me a beer my parents taught me to say "no, two beers". I think that’s what they meant.

This beer was in cask at Le Cheval Blanc. The color is brown with a thick beige head and nice lace. The aroma is of hops and also of sweet caramel. The taste also of hops and of nuts with a bit of malt added to it. The finish has a nice bitterness to it that lives you with a pleasant taste in your mouth.

Rated in July 2010, apparently the first on Ratebeer, ya bitches!! All Bobby Brown affectations aside. This was just OK brown ale. Nice foggy brown look with clear gold highlights. Nice lemon-rind hop aroma and peachy sweetness. Taste strong bitter C-hops, but it lacks definition and dimension. Though lemon and grapefruit aftertaste is nice.

A reddish amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, pleasant caramel floral hops, pinhey and smooth. In mouth, a smooth bitter butterscotch malt, a bit buttery, a bit sharp and simple, but does the job. On cask at brewpub, August 15 2010.

(Rating #3235)

Drank on cask (20 oz) at there brewpub, on August 24, 2010. Caramel brown, medium head. Aroma of malted barley, sweet nutty notes. Very bitter taste of malted barley, sweet hazelnut, bitter aftertaste with a bit nuts. A very good nutty cask brown ale!
