On tap at Le Cheval Blanc. The color is a dark brown with a thin beige head. The aroma is of sour fruits like cheries andhops. The taste is also of sour fruits, yeast, malt and hops that give it a touch of bitterness. This was quite an experience for the taste buds a mix of an I.P.A. an a brown ale,Cheval Balnc and Dieu du Ciel should do this again.

(Rating #4286)

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin creamy brown head. In aroma, a classic sour ale with sour cherries, epsom salts, strong Brett, very nice. In mouth, a sharp sour cherry attack with woody notes, Brett notes, nice and puckering. On tap at DDC, June 16, 2012.

In short: A no-style semi-sour dark ale with a bit of everything. Fun beer.
How: Tap at brewpub (a bit here and there and almost no funk) then tap at DDC a few months later (much more cohesive and more funky)
The look: Dark mahogany body topped by a very small beige head
In long: Nose is fruity (prunes and dark grapes) with some funk along with some leafy hops giving a light iced-tea signature. Taste is grainy malts, dried dark fruits, some nougat, a smooth fruity sourness, a mild leafy bitterness, some bretty notes. Far from an intense beer, this was actually very smooth. This is a Sour/Wild ale that proposes a prominent tartness and some funk, not true sourness as most people expect from this style. There’s a bit of everything in this no-style beer with no specific element taking too much room, every flavor element is allowed to shine and that’s what fun about it. This is a collaboration beer between the Cheval Blanc and the Dieu Du Ciel, and these two brewpubs are the main reasons why I have a Medic-Alert bracelet that says “Probably just totally drunk”.

Dark brown with thin head. Tart and with light fruitiness. Deep fruitiness on the palate, light chocolate malt and then woody, winey notes.

[4493-20120608] Tap. Toasted roasty wood notes in the aroma. Hazy, dark dark brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Sour tangy wood roasted dark fruit flavour. Medium-full body. Tasty. (7/4/7/4/15) 3.7

draught@DDC - dark ruby-brown beer with a modest foam left; hints of vinegar and sour cherries; licorice; medium to full-bodied; subtle yet fair carbonation; quite dry with hints of licorice and sour cherries; lingering sourness
