(Rating #2064)

a dark amber ale with a thin lacing white head. A nice hops, very restrained, with lemon peels. In mouth, a crisp malt, dry, with a good grapefruit bitterness, sustained. More British in spirit. Resinous qualities. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 1 2008.

My Bottom Line:
Fat cereals and mint-laden strawberries lead to portentous resinous bitterness in this rotund and lateblooming hop monster.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the cloudy amber.
-The choice of hops is of limited aromatic potential; the nose is thus not quite attractive for such a usually perfumy style.
-This has quite a few similar to their Barley Wine in its fruitiness, resinous finish and portly cereal character.
-Alcohol is well hidden by the gripping hop finale.

On tap at the brewpub.
