Pours a murky brown color with ruby highlights and a medium, creamy, offwhite head. Strong, assertive aroma and flavor of resinous, piney hops with some underlying malt. The bitter finish is intense, lasting and has a rough edge. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Personally, I prefer the non-imperial IPA.

En fût au Cheval Blanc. Couleur jaune foncé-ambrée, mousse blanche. Arôme de citrus, malt. En bouche, fraîche, citrus, malt, un peu de caramel faible. Finale amère, qui s’étend, un peu d’alcool. Très bonne.

*Version cask: Tout ce qui a de plus westcoast avec un bon support malté. Belle amertume voilé pas trop asséchante.

Dégustée en fût sur place sous le nom « Imperial India » à 7% d’alcool. De couleur ambrée foncée et voilée. Nez de houblon résineux, légèrement citrique (pamplemousse) et aux notes florales, malté de caramel et léger de fruits (agrumes, traces de cantaloup). Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement crémeuse et aux petites notes résineuses. Goût amer de houblon moyennement résineux, légèrement citrique et floral (une amertume présente en avant-plan et s’amplifiant toute la gorgée) avec un léger goût fruité (agrumes) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel doux avec de faibles notes de toffee puis en finale le houblon revient en force en étant asséchant légèrement plus citrique et avec des notes herbeuses, et est accompagné de faibles notes d’alcool doux. Post-goût long et sec, très amer de houblon résineux, moyennement citrique et légèrement floral avec des traces d’alcool et de fruits (zest d’agrumes). (hiver 2006-07)

App.: Deep mahogany with a nice off-white foam. Aroma: Thick, sweet malts, fairly mashy, fairly fruity, a little cat pee, strong pine hops, resin, dank, dusty/musty, caramel/toffee. Palate: Medium-full body, fairly lively but fine effervescence Flav.: A hue wallop of rich, thick malts and strong pine, perfumed hops, burnt sugar, mashy/meaty, honey, caramel, toffee, treacle, nice; sweet with great bitterness and a sweet caramel/pine finish.

Very nice.

Verre de 10oz, bu sur place. Bière dorée peu de mousse trône mais elle est blanche. Le nez est très houblon avec une touche de malt et d’alcool. En bouche la bière est ronde avec une finale des plus houblonnée avec du mordant. L’amertume est persistante et elle attaque les cotés de la langue. L’alcool se fait aussi sentir.

Pungent Hops jump right out of the glass! WOW! This one is promising...Piney/citrus nose. Amber color,cloudy.Light sweetness, very bitter, Great balance between the two.Surprisingly light body with oily goodness from the hops.Lively carbonation, bitter finish but no astringency.This is the closest this brewer has ever been to the best American IPAS. Looks like he figured out how to get the maximum out of those crazy american hops.Love this beer!

Tap at brewpub. 103 IBU means power-hopping, enough to balance that intense fruity yeast flavor. Piney and resinous, grapefruit. Maybe a little straight-forward but a great hophead brew. Felt like a dual-layer hopping, with a more herbal, dry and somewhat watery-refreshing finish. Totally enjoyable to me; I’m rating high but I just love this style and this one ranks good in Québec.

Pours a reddish amber with a small head. Hints of pine, peaches and grapefruit on the nose. Full body with an aggressive bitterness backed by a good malt backbone. Wow! This is bitter !!! It says 110 IBU on the wall and I believe it is so! Long warming finish with again some resinous hops haunting your palate. A great IIPA in my opinion, maybe a bit too harsh on the bitterness, but nevertheless a top class brew.

Verre de 14 oz, à la brasserie. Arômes de houblon résineux et fruité (fruits tropicaux). Robe rousse assez foncée, claire, légère mousse. En bouche, le houblon très aromatique (résine, pamplemousse, fruits tropicaux) est à l’avant-plan et le malt, légèrement mielleux, joue plutôt un rôle de soutient. Texture relativement mince et finale bien amère. L’alcool demeure très bien intégré. Très intéressant.
