lefossoyeur (44), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 4, 2009 Updated: Oct 14, 2009Amber red with a nice white foamy head. Aromas of grapefruit and some resinous hops (Simcoe). Medium to full bodied, creamy, with notes of caramel and a pleasing piny bitterness. Long pleasing finish. An easy drinking IPA that I could drink all night long. On tap at Le Cheval Blanc DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Apr 3, 2009 16 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub. Aroma has some sweet, sugary, citrus, and lightly hempy notes. Pretty quaffable. Mildly hazy amber body with a medium off-white head and nice lacing present. Lots of piney hoppiness present in this. It seems like Simcoe to me. Nice huskiness in the middle with some tannins present. Pretty dry, bitter, and hopped finish with some more pine and grapefruit. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Aug 29, 2007 Citrus hops aroma, orange/red, small white head. Bold taste of citrus(grapefruit), malt backing. Medium bodied, chewy, bitter as can be. Great version! tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 21, 2007 Plenty of citrus hops (lemon, tangerine more than grapefruit) blend with light caramel in the hop forward aroma. Hazy dark copper-amber coloured body is topped by a decent off white head that lasts well. Pungent and hoppy flavour with underlying caramel offers the citrus promised by the nose as well as some floral character. Medium bitterness takes the edge off the sweetness. Some bread/grain in the aftertaste especially. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2007 Draught. Dark copper-orange with a creamy small white head. The aroma is fruity - tangerine, orange oil, and soap. Very hoppy yet not exceedingly bitter. Flowery perfume flavour - tangerine, pineapple resin notes. Soapy middle/finish. Long and sweet bready finish. I enjoyed it but there definitely wasn’t much balance.
Half pint at the brewpub on June 1, 2007. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Jun 9, 2007 On tap at Brewpub 6.1%
Fair haze, neat classic. Amber with creamy top.
Green citric hops, quiet refreshing. Simply hoppy bitter character but well set up.
More of wet, green bitters up front, that traveled into middle of palate. Softer (still hoppy) finish. Good straight forward classic IPA.
Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 6, 2007 Cloudy golden-copper body topped by a medium beige head. Intense beer, both on the nose and in the mouth. Nicely malted and “dirty” body. Strong roasted flavour, borderline nutty. Toasted bread with caramel. Distant peach and orange fruity note. Lots of intensely tasty earthy dirty hops. Powerful bitterness that feels a lot more than the advertised 62 IBU on the menu. Bitterness level is very high and the after-taste sticks to the back of the mouth forever. Excellent but might be a bit too much in the long-run (even for a hophead like me). If you wait for the taste to completely wash away between two sips you’ll need to shave halfway through your pint.
