collieman (192), montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 31, 2005 Had a pint at the brewpub on October 28, 2005. The new hybrid I keep seing coming outa quebec, the india pale rouse. CB’s version, the "Indienne Rouge" is a little more on the rouse side, a little less on the indian. Pours a deep crystal red with just a bit of cloud, mabby the sedement had setteled betwine the day when CapFlu was there and I was. Thin head of extra large bubbles, gone in a second leaving just a spot of white foam on top. Farily light carbonation that disapates very quickly. Aroma is thin, just a whisp of cascade dancing with boose. Mouthfeel is fairly thin, a little creamy with just the SLIGHTEST viscous touch. Taste is prodominantly bitter, with a roasted malt sweetness and little else. Slight taste of grapefruit hops, some acidity, a little malt breadyness and a little lemon zest. Aftertaste was bitter, a little floral and overall dry. All in all, it’s good, but not what I would call perfect. I feel a hybrid should be a blend of the 2 styles, not parts of one and some of the other. I would be happier if this was maltier, with a more pronounced roasted barley caracter in the finish. A blend of hops would also be nice. What we have here is closer to a dark APA. Worth a taste before it’s gone. Cheers.
rodenbach99 (472), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Sep 18, 2008 au fût, une des belles réussite du cheval blanc, belle couleur rouge-brique, nez intense de houblon, belle amertume en bouche, finale longue et houblonnée. DougShoemaker (2619), Toronto, Canada Aug 29, 2007 Citrus hops aroma, orange/red, small white head. Bold taste of citrus(grapefruit), malt backing. Medium bodied, chewy, bitter as can be. Great version! tiggmtl (4178), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 21, 2007 Plenty of citrus hops (lemon, tangerine more than grapefruit) blend with light caramel in the hop forward aroma. Hazy dark copper-amber coloured body is topped by a decent off white head that lasts well. Pungent and hoppy flavour with underlying caramel offers the citrus promised by the nose as well as some floral character. Medium bitterness takes the edge off the sweetness. Some bread/grain in the aftertaste especially. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub. mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2007 Draught. Dark copper-orange with a creamy small white head. The aroma is fruity - tangerine, orange oil, and soap. Very hoppy yet not exceedingly bitter. Flowery perfume flavour - tangerine, pineapple resin notes. Soapy middle/finish. Long and sweet bready finish. I enjoyed it but there definitely wasn’t much balance.

Fair haze, neat classic. Amber with creamy top.

Green citric hops, quiet refreshing. Simply hoppy bitter character but well set up.

More of wet, green bitters up front, that traveled into middle of palate. Softer (still hoppy) finish. Good straight forward classic IPA.
